When I was little, and it is good I didn't try this, I thought that if I broke the tv screen the people would actually be there! I imagined me breaking into the tv and joining Barney and his friends in their songs and adventures. If I broke the TVs I would have gotten in so much trouble, and I am sure my parents are happy I was never desperate enough to try.

I thought Chocolate milk only came from brown cows. :D Also when I was about three I thought the little white bathroom heater was a great stool to sit and put on my clothes. Ouch! I was wrong. Fortunately my mother grabbed me before it was very serious. It only took one lesson.

When I first started school and the teacher said the word restroom, I thought we had to go there and take a nap. At home we called it a bathroom and I'd never heard of a restroom before. lol

Growing up we heated our drafty old farmhouse with a wood stove in the winter. My Dad said we couldn't burn the wood unless it was seasoned. I thought that meant food seasoning, like spices had to be put on the wood before you use it. We all still get a laugh out of that one! :D

When I was about 7 or 8, I used to watch Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs religiously. I was so scared of the witch and her mirror. But I still loved watching it anyway. I was a weird kid I guess, lol ! Anyway, I decided to break the bathroom mirror. As I thought that would get rid of the witch & her creepy person in the mirror. Of course, It didn't work. But boy did my hide get a tanning that day! I couldn't walk the whole day after that. This was back in late 60's, when smacking kids wasn't called abuse.

When I was a young child, men and women looked very different - men has short hair and all the ones I saw had cowboy hats and boots and western shirts. The women all wore dresses with big full skirts and longish styled hair and make-up and hats for church on Sundays. So I thought it was the same for horses & cows and dogs & cats. Horses were male and cows were female and they got together and had little horses and cows. Dogs were male and cats were female and they had little dogs and cats. And I lived on a farm! I should have known better.

When I was a child, I thought that all roads closed at night. My dad once went to leave around 9pm to go to an office party or something, and I asked him how he was going to get there if the roads were closed!

I remember by grandpa would always tell me that everything was black and white when he was a kid (he obviously meant everything on TV). so for years I thought everyone just saw everything in B&W and i asked him how old he was when he finally started seeing color. lol!

As a kid i had a friend who i visited often. But her mom was a bit of a bully, in a fun way. They had a basement and there were coming noises out of it. So i took the stairs and was so scared because of the noises. But her mom made it worse. One day she told me, they had this pet who lived downstairs, a really big hedgehog with big teeth. And he was dangerous. I believed it for a long time...

I used to believe that the people in the tv could see me as easily as I could see them.

My gran had me believe that if I didn't wash behind my ears and neck that potatoes would grow in the dirt.

My grandad was a photographer so I believed that before the 70s everyone saw in black and white and that every generation got to see in colour earlier. So Victorian's never saw colours, Granddad saw colour in his 40s, my mum in her 20s and me from when I was 4.

I thought everyone went on their vacations to Kentucky to see their grandparents, aunts & uncles and cousins (we live in Michigan and my Mom was from Kentucky). It wasn't until I was about 6 we went to Niagara Falls for a vacation that I realized it wasn't so.

This is weird, I know. I have quite a number of decades under my belt so grew up in a religious, old-time way a long long time ago. No one had ever gotten divorced in my world and an aunt told me a certain divorced woman was evil. Somehow I thought if I ever met a divorced person I could spot him a mile away. Maybe I had seen something about the Scarlet Letter. First one I met was the sweetest woman in the world. I was stunned.

I grew up in the 80's. I thought Paradise City and Kokomo were real places. My friend and I also believed that if you wanted to stay up past midnight you had to stay up until 1 am to get through the whole hour of midnight.

I always thought that Grease song's chorus was "Ya-wal-ala-wah." Like a vocalization...it wasn't until I was an adult women and sang it outloud at my office, that one of my co-workers informed me that the lyrics are YOU ARE THE ONE THAT I WANT. Felt so dumb.

When I was like 4 or 5, I thought that chicken nuggets were made of baby chicks because they're suspiciously the same shape and size and had to clear it with my mom that I was not indeed indulging on baby birds. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I also thought I could be like Mary Poppins and fly with an umbrella off concrete steps, that went really well. LOL

My mom told me that I need to stay away from head lice.. if they got on my hair and becomes many.. they will flew me to the mountain and I really believe that. I watch too many fairy tales.. and I really believe fairy may come to bring me stuff I like, some day :D

I was sheltered somewhat so itโ€™s probably like too many things haha. Ok the obvious of monsters under the bed and ghost in the closet stuff. I always convinced myself when I was alone I was being followed too. I always felt like I was being watched. (Weird Now to think about Bc of technology always listening lol) I also always beloved no one really won contests (not having internet with like easy proof) watermelon seeds you swallowed grew a watermelon in your belly and thatโ€™s what โ€œpregnantโ€ people did. And Iโ€™m sure when I read the comments Iโ€™ll be like yea that too haha ๐Ÿคช

When I was very, very young, I thought that animal "languages" were just like human languages, and that if I studied them hard enough, I could understand what English word each of their noises corresponded to. Eventually, a documentary on animal body language made me realize that wasn't the case!

When I went to College, (I know Not Young But you'll see), My roommate and Best friend and 2 sibs and a mom and VERY active dad. I was raised by a Single Mom and 2 brothers and My step Dad. My mom married him when I was 17 but they had been together since I was 10 or 11 and we all had been living in his house since I was 12. He was not active till it was too late. Then we became friends when I was 26 or 27.

Any way back to my story. Whenever My roommate called her dad or he called her especially in a pickle It threw me off guard!! IDK what I thought I knew parents were still married may I watched too much Roseanne or something. Even with my husband I forget that his Dad is so Helpful. I always go Call Mom. When Really its a Dad thing!!

My Mom and Step Dad have passed away. and My "In loves" Have not filled but done a good job at taking care of our needs!! They are Awesome.

But its like my childhood mentality is I don't have a dad so no one has a good father figure!!

As a child growing up we used to as kids would climb trees to touch the sky and laying in the green grass staring at the clouds to form shapes with our imagination believing marshons or aliens would be flying down on spaceships to catch us and freak each other out scaring one another was funny.. The kids in the street would all come together now and then we would pretend we owned horses like in a pony club put up jumps with a whip in our hands tapping the side of our legs, like a rider would do... my horses was always playing up lol A whip was made from sticks laying around on the ground so easy to find we'd running around acting like we were horses, A friend of ours really did have a real horse loved horses and ponies so we would follow suite so glad i grew out of it lolol hmmmm wondering if they still run around pretending to be riding horses Lolol...

I used to think that when you heard music on the radio, all the bands/singers were all in one place taking turns. I couldn't imagine how big the radio station must've been! I thought it was amazing how fast each different band set up for their turn.

I also thought red/green/yellow street lights had little ghosts inside. They would take quick naps until it was their turn to light up! Lol :)

It's pretty amazing how imaginative kids' minds are!!

My mother used to tell me that mosquitoes preferred Hungarian blood, because it was sweeter (her family is Hungarian). I don't think I realized she was joking until high school, and always thought I had to be extra careful to avoid mosquitoes because of my heritage.

When I first started learning Spanish, I thought I just had to learn the new letters (with accents) and how to say the alphabet in Spanish and then I'd be done. I was very disappointed to learn there was a lot more to it!

My mom loves to tell the story about when the family was told that my oldest cousin was pregnant (I was very very young), that I did not believe them. It was a serious discussion they were having and I just knew they had it all wrong. . . I announced that she can't have a baby in her tummy; she's not married - I genuinely didn't think it was possible :D. Of course I had no clue how these things "happen" and all of the adults were laughing...hard.

Thanks to my grandma- I thought for the longest time that if you left a head of lettuce in the refrigerator long enough, it turned into a head of cabbage.. yep. And to me it made sense! Lettuce was kind of soft and things get harder when they are cold right?! Ugh, thanks grandma.

Bonus: Thanks to my mom, I thought that eating a Bay leaf (yes, the kind you put in soups) would kill you. You were just supposed to steep it to use some of the flavor but if you didn't take it out and accidentally ate it, you would die.

Bonus bonus: Thanks to my dad, I thought the hazard button in a car was to blow it up.... When I said that couldn't be true, he explained that it was there because if someone tried to steal the car, they wouldn't know what the button did, and when they pressed it, it would blow up the car. And I believed that.

When I was a kid, i used to run into glass doors (on purpose) because I couldn't believe something was so strong but see through, I thought it was some sort of magic!

When I was around 10 I thought "boyfriend" means someone you secretly like, so I was telling a lot of bunch of girls that one guy from my neighbour was my boyfriend and everyone talked about this for a long time and it the end they all came back to me and said that I'm a liar and the boy didn't even know me and I was like "yeah I know! That's why he is my boyfriend!"

I lost lots of friends that day ๐Ÿ˜‚ later someone explained to me the meaning of boyfriend.

I think I was around 7 or 8 and one of my older cousins told me that if I ate alphabet soup before a spelling test, I would pass because eating the "letters" would help my brain retain the words?! Yeah, I'm not sure why or how I bought that load of horse dung, but I did mainly because, after my first test, I got 100%.

I'm sure it had nothing to do with all the review work my teacher encouraged our class with...so like the Einstein I thought I was, I didn't worry about the following week's test....which I bombed of course. (I wish I remember the actual score!)

I remember the utter shock of seeing my score, the kid in front of me smirk as he passed my test back to me and the horror of going home to explain to my mom what happened.

Did I learn my lesson - nope, you know a 7yr old is bullet proof. I talked myself into eating alphabet soup for lunch & dinner the day before the next test. I think I reasoned that the words had gotten harder, thus, more "letters" were needed. Well, this time mom wasn't happy the 2nd time around. The story came out with tears and fears - follow up with my mom making a few phone calls to delighted relatives. I wish I could say I got that cousin back somehow...

I delighted them soon after with other misadventures for sure.

As a kid thought I cรฒuld bring peace all over the world. All children with their parents would have a life without problems and life would be nice and joyful for veryone. I also thought that I walked with the moon at night as the moon and the clouds passed by:)

I've always been obsessed with mermaids even as a kid. I blame the movie Splash and also Hans Christian Andersen completely for warping my little preschooler mind. Anyway, thanks to an over active imagination, and my mother's stubborn unwillingness to "really" explain what all that salt sea foam and aether ending in "The Little Mermaid" was really about to a five year old--I became fascinated with whirlpools. Drains, washing machines, even those nasty swirling grates in city streets and ditches. Anywhere a water vortex formed I was right there determined to see a mermaid raise up out of the spinning puddles to freedom (or honestly more like to live in my bedroom poor dear). So you know this drove all the adults in my life insane: Laundry took twice as long (cause I kept opening the door to watch the water and clothes twist), bath time could not end cause I had to make sure no mermaids had gotten stuck in the drain, walking in the rain with me? Well you were gonna be soaked buddy. It went on for at least a year and better until my mother found another book to read me at bedtime. This one of course had no mermaids nor sea foam and aether.

I believed that dragonflies could sew up your mouth. I don't believe that any more, but I always think of it when I see one.

I swear I posted this already but I don't see it, so... Whenever we noticed a couple hens missing, our uncle told us that they had stopped laying eggs, so they were retired. I thought, for the longest time, that they got sent off to some nice hen house, like the home my great-grandmother lived in. I think I was five before I finally equated the missing hens with the chicken dinners we had those same evenings.
