I enjoy photography and crafting with paper. My favorite hobbies vary with time but I do a bit of sewing (nothing complicated) and have made my own mini-books and postcards. I taught myself to crochet a few years ago but haven't been doing much lately. I also participate in Postcrossing and sendsomething.net.
Lately I have been watching a number of British TV series.
I read broadly in many genres. I have been enjoying Scandinavian mysteries lately and recently got hooked on the Inspector Rebus mysteries by Ian Rankin. I also enjoy creative non-fiction, memoirs, reading French literature in the original language (when I have the energy), and some sci-fi and fantasy. When I'm feeling virtuous I will pick up an old classic and hope to learn something. I recently finished The Americans by Henry James, as an example. I double majored in college and my second major was French Literature.
I'd enjoy handmade cards. If a card tells me something about you it is more interesting. Tourist postcards are ok if you don't make your own. Please try to use postage stamps if you can; they add a lot of interest to the mail. I love vintage postcards, old books, and other ephemera. I try to use vintage paper in my swap items as much as possible. I collected stamps as a kid and I'm still fascinated by them although I'm not a collector. When I can, I try to attach colorful or interesting stamps to my postcards. I'm happy with whatever you send me and will be kind in my ratings. However, I do not want any religious items.
I'm 52 now, married with two kids, both boys. My oldest just graduated college and started his first job. I'm a doctor and scientist.
I participated in NaNoWriMo twice over the years so have two unfinished novels (YA) to my name.
I love to travel and do so every chance I get. I speak French fluently although I don't get much chance to do so. I often dream of going back to Paris .
I also enjoy hiking, walking on the beach, wilderness and mountain areas.
