NOTE: Please email me if you do not receive something in a swap. I ALWAYS send, and almost always in the first 2-3 days after partners are assigned.
I have lots of interests, hobbies, passions. My longer life paths have been in education, sales, care of adults with autism, and writing. I am presently retired, but still working at writing pursuits. In the last year I have finished one novel and started a second (while waiting to find an agent who will sell the first). (Note: All agents are encouraged to contact me!!)
I live in a wonderful adobe house with my partner and three pets. Cooper is a little black dog who was rescued from a bucket alongside a road. RG and Zevon are blind or partially sighted kitties. I love them all.
I spend a lot of time on the computer, mostly playing online Scrabble and other fun word games on Facebook. I also love sudoku. I keep uop with my many south- and north-eastern friends by text. This takes a lot of time since I really miss them after moving back to the Southwest, which I love.
I love color and design, and if I were to collect art, it would be a hodgepodge. I'd have Wyeth and Miro, Dali and Matisse, Warhol and at least one or more of the darker Dutch painters...all in the same space.
I like things that are fun and funny, especially when combined with female images or ideas. I really like girlfriend sorts of things, female humor and soft-core feminist things.
I love to see movies and I have many favorites: I watch Love Actually at least once a year and always at Christmas, While you Were Sleeping and Notting Hill and Pretty Woman almost once a year; I am a sucker for happy endings. I loved The Blind Side! I like anything starring Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts, Audrey Hepburn, Kevin Kline, COLIN FIRTH, and Bradley Cooper. Favorite movie of all time is possibly Love Actually...no, maybe it's The Intouchables or Breakfast at Tiffany's or To Kill A Mockingbird or Fried Green Tomatoes or The Secret Life of Bees...I give up!
Books, now there's a favorite subject. There are books all over my house. Everywhere you look, books. They are piled neatly, mostly, 2 stacks deep and all the way to the top. My list of favorites will be short, because otherwise it would be too long: To Kill A Mockingbird, Prayer For Owen Meany, Alice in Wonderland, The Secret Life of Bees, The Fault in Our Stars, anything by Jojo Moyes. After listing such wonderful stories, I must also add that I love mysteries and detective series of all kinds. I adore the Robert Parker books, Inspector Hamish novels, even ate up the too-violent Prey series by John Sandford. Recently I became addicted to Janet Evanovitch's wacky skip tracer novels about Stephanie Plum. In a different vein, I also have read every single Jodie Picoult. Loved Eat, Pray, Love. Loved The Measure this past year--so much to talk about Oh, so many books, yay!
I like to make all kinds of things. I love the idea of making things from outdoor natural materials, like pinecones, sweet gum balls, moss, nut shells and pinecone petals. But I also like glitzy colorful things and enjoy almost all mediums: paint, magic marker, pencil. Stickers and fabrics of all types are fun, as are the different materials and things used in scrap-booking.
I love all sorts of paper. In fact, I have boxes of it, much of it samples from paper companies that I collected when I was in paper sales! PAPER IS ME!
My favorite color is yellow, although I use a lot of earth tones when creating, especially since many of the things I make, like wreathes or nut people, are made from fruits of nature. I also like to make things using paper, buttons, dried flower petals and fabric and any kind of whimsical doodad.
I don't watch much TV, and usually while doing other things. I do Netflix and watch a lot of PBS so not that much "regular" TV. Love those morning news shows, prefer Good Morning America. Love CBS Sunday Morning with Jane Pauley. Jeopardy is a favorite TV shows. Love many PBS features, foremost of which is still the longtime favorite, Downton Abbey.
I would collect much more if it weren't for a space issue. For now, I collect antique valentines, vintage handkerchieves, wind-up toys, and of course, postcards. I started but have not much expanded collections of old light finials and salt/pepper shaker sets. So many wonderful things, so little time (and space).
