I live in Canberra which is the capital city in Australia and am a widow with two grown daughters, a son-in-law and a grandson. Pets are a Griffon Bruxellois dog called Quincy and a black Devon Rex cat called Madison.
In the 60s and 70s I worked at various radio stations in Sydney, Brisbane and New Zealand as a programme arranger (selecting the music to be played) so music has played a very big part in my life. I enjoy easy listening music and particularly enjoy the re-makes of some of the old classics which have been done by Robbie Williams, Michael Buble, Rod Stewart and our own David Campbell. I really don't like raucous, rap, alternate music or songs with offensive lyrics. I'm also not into loud electronic music. Easy on the ear, bright, melodic, tap your toes type music is what I enjoy.
Mysteries and thrillers are my favourite and I love reading James Patterson, Mary Higgins Clark and Karin Slaughter. I also enjoy some of Debbie Macomber's books particularly the ones in the Blossom Street series.
Don't watch very much television as I tend to spend far too much time on the computer and listening to talk-back radio. However, when I do decide to watch the box, I like the real-life shows like ER, All Saints (Aussie series), Animal Rescue, Airport, Border Patrol etc. Knitty Gritty and Unusual Threads are good to watch on cable.
My favourite craft is crochet but I also like to knit easy projects. I make a lot of things for charity which I find very satisfying as well as enjoyable. Quick and easy projects are my favourite. As an ongoing project I make things for the homeless, and kitten blankets for our local RSPCA animal shelter. Other than the very basics, its very hard to find crochet/knitting gadgets here in Australia so I'd love to receive these types of things in a swap.
