Description:

Halloween lovers and button mavens, this is our swap!

You will create one buton fairy for one partner in a Halloween theme. Think black &/or orange, witchies, jack-o-lanterns, black cats, skeletons, ghosties, anything Halloween related, make a button tail and add a hanger or magnet so your Halloween partner can display it.

Button fae are really not difficult to make, Google or Flickr for pics and instructions, but basically they are a bunch of wonderful buttons wired together to form a tail, then attached to a STURDY paper back adorned with the face or upperbody of your chosen Halloween figure, with wings. There are no right and wrong ways to create!! Of course, the more creativity, bling and heart you put into it the more your partner will SCREAM with delight when they receive it.

You can also check out my Flickr pages or blog for some spooky button fae I've made.

This will be an international swap, group rules apply. Don't flake on your scary sisters or the wrath of evil revenge will be cast upon you!! Plenty of time to sign up and plenty of time to create and receive before Halloween!

Questions, just ask. Thanks Christy for requesting this swap! :OD

Ok, I do have one more question before joining: I haven't made one yet, but they do look pretty "easy" in construction. I've always wondered, though, about the curve...does the wire used to connect the buttons allow for the curved tail to stay once it's hung or is there any reinforcing behind the buttons that aren't visible? Or is the curvature just done for pictures and they usually hang straight down?
Thanks for any insight!

Sorry to be late in responding @Kugusch -I use a pretty flexible gauge wire (26), and I run it through the buttons one way and then back through the other way. This allows the buttons to stay in whatever shape you want them but are still easily re-shaped. It also adds to how well you can control the way the buttons face so they all face 'front'. If you begin and end at the bottom, you can add beads or charms on the wire ends or coil them. If you begin and end at the 'head' end, you can leave enough extra to form a hanger, just make small pin holes in whatever you use for the top image and feed the ends through. Hope this helps! :OD
