Adventures of the Traveling Postcard Round #71
Swap Coordinator:mdkrouwel (contact)
Swap categories: Postcards
Number of people in swap:72
Location:International
Type:Type 2: Flat mail
Last day to signup/drop:November 1, 2017
Date items must be sent by:November 9, 2017
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

PLEASE NOTE: Well-established folks ONLY (50 or more Type 2/Type 3 swaps completed). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE TOO: do not ad a new card as long as you still have a card to send out that belongs to someone else. Lately I do receive envies with more then one card (that's okay), but then there is also a brand new card added to join this swap. I have also been contacted about this by other participants. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Wouldn't it be great to send a postcard and see where it had been all around the world? Then get it returned back to you after its adventures were over? Let's do it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST ROUND:

Choose a card. A card that you think people would enjoy seeing (however, PLEASE DO NOT USE EXTRA LARGE POSTCARDS THAT WILL REQUIRE EXTRA POSTAGE!). Put your name and address (including the country!) on the right hand side of the card. Put the title of the swap ("Adventures of the Traveling Postcard") and your screen name at the top of the left hand side. PUT IT IN AN ENVELOPE and send it off to your partner. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IF YOU PARTICIPATED IN THE PREVIOUS ROUND(S):

Just write your name, username, city, state/country, on the left hand side of the postcard you received in the previous round. Put it in an envelope and send it to your partner! (DO NOT WRITE YOUR ENTIRE ADDRESS ON THE POSTCARD - THIS TAKES UP TOO MUCH SPACE!) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hang on to the postcard(s) that you receive in each round. We will have another round each month. Sign up when you receive yours from the previous round, start another one in rotation, or contact me, as I may have a postcard that needs to be put back into rotation as well! When the left side of the postcard is filled up with the names and cities of those that have received the postcard, the last person will stamp your actual postcard and send it back to you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IMPORTANT:

1.) Please don't send more than 3 cards per round. Hang on to the extra ones and send them in following rounds. If you have too many, please contact me.

2.) Before sending out the cards to the next person, do check if the cards belongs to someone who is still participating. If they are not, please contact me about it.

3.) If you decide to stop the swap, please contact me so you can send your received cards to me and I can keep them in rotation.

4.) Do NOT send the postcard back to the original owner until the left side of the postcard is completely filled unless instructed otherwise. CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE NOT SENDING YOUR PARTNER'S CARD BACK TO THEM AS PART OF THE SWAP ROUND YOU'RE ON.

5.) Do not destroy, bend, write on the front of, or ANYTHING else that destroys the integrity of the postcard. Treat the postcard how you would want yours treated.

6.) Do not send huge cards! It requirers extra postage! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well-established folks ONLY (50 or more Type 2/Type 3 swaps completed) and I will ban if I feel that you may be a questionable swapper. I want to do my best to ensure that everyone receives their postcards back. So don't join if you don't think you can commit to it for the long haul. I will be checking EVERYONE'S profile and will ban anyone that I feel like. Thanks and happy swapping!

I have been in this swap since round 19 and have never seen any of my cards come home. Where are they going? Is there a black hole full of my postcards? if anyone has one of mine, please let me know!

mdkrouwel 10/ 3/2017 #

Unfortunately the same happened to me too.... I am afraid many of my cards joined yours!

palmettogirl727 10/ 4/2017 #

Same here. I dropped out about 2 years ago, but check in occasionally to read comments here. I still have one out there somewhere.

Bluegirl 10/ 6/2017 #

I had two on rotation for the last two years and so far they haven't comeback to me. This is quite disappointing... :-(

Tessssssa 10/ 6/2017 #

Maybe we should start a lost card club! Has anyone seen mine?

user6937 10/ 6/2017 #

Interesting - I joined the very first of these swaps and never got mine back, so after a year or two, I dropped out, too. But, like @palmettogirl727 I keep hoping if I comment, or check in, I might see where my card got to. I'm afraid, though, that it's sitting under a pile of stuff in somebody's house (I hope), or it's been thrown out (no idea why, when it has a stamp on it)!

Juniebird 10/ 7/2017 #

Somebody comment who HAS gotten their postcard back... please! Give the rest of us hope! I've only been in for a few rounds but I hope that I see my card come back someday.

Juniebird 10/ 7/2017 #

I should add that I enjoy seeing all the postcards that come in and that I pass on, and many people include little extras in the envelope. So the swap is totally worth it even if I don't get mine back. :-)

palmettogirl727 10/ 7/2017 #

Juniebird-I did get my first postcard back successfully. That's been 3 years ago or so. It had 6-7 "swap" signatures on it. I started a second one then, and it's not come home.

mcovey 10/ 7/2017 #

I have gotten several back filled , possibly 3 stull love doing these even if it takes a long time to get them back . This round i sent 2 back filled and hopefully their owners have recieved them and very happy all the places its been ! DonÒ€ℒt give up hope ! I love doing these swaps ! Thank you for hosting this swap and hope to see many more !

fbresnah 10/ 8/2017 #

It is possible that flakers have joined these swaps and never returned which is why some cards wind up lost in the wind. Perhaps have a rating requirement? Just a suggestion.

dorcii 10/ 8/2017 #

It's not about flakers only in my opinion :( I already had some partners whose cards did never arrive to me :( so it means cards got lost. 2 or 3 of my postcards are (?) in the game, but I already put them into in the first rounds, so I don't expect them coming back to me :D

Caddi 10/ 9/2017 #

I just received a postcard back I started in round 52!

Thanks to @mcovey for sending it back home and thanks to @ashanti2106 @Rimbar @Starmouse @Sam86 @SaraJaneKnits, @NatashaMay @Rimbar (once again!), @mymymymy @pne @elinor @teresallo and @fabriqueen for signing my postcard and sending it along!

mdkrouwel 10/ 9/2017 #

I also received several back home, one of them was away for about 2 years! I will try to keep track from now one about how many of my own are still traveling and wil keep you informed about that! Does anyone have one of mine with them?

NatashaMay 10/10/2017 #

I have 2 cards to send this round, @theaterfan23 and Margie D. from TX,USA

Coss 10/14/2017 #

I am sending home Nadja from Austria started in round #48, and forwarding on Jackie from St. Paul,MN from round #65.

noname13 10/15/2017 #

I have one from @fbesnah started in #68
Actually I wanted to send it in #70 but I couldn't find the card. When I was tidying my office yesterday I found it and will now send it in #71.

noname13 10/15/2017 #

@fbresnah is the correct name...

EmilyT 10/17/2017 #

I've been in since the early days and received quite a few back. I never kept count of how many I sent out so I don't know if any are missing or not. I'm guessing the missing ones are from people who just dropped out of participation and unfortunately we're not kind enough to pop it in an envie and spend a stamp to get it to the owner. Some of it is certainly flakers, too. I believe I've had to rate a 1 at least once and I had another I should have given a 1 or 3 because I never received and when I contacted them they were so ho-hum and not concerned that I didn't receive it. It made me wonder if they sent. That was a couple of years ago.

Anyway, I find it to be a fun swap. I use PCs I really like but no super special or slight costly PCs, just in case it doesn't return.

This round sending on Sherry from Alaska.

noname13 10/18/2017 #

I have another two cards to send in this round. One is from @mellyrose89 (#66) and one from @religt (#61).

Juniebird 10/19/2017 #

I have two to send on this round. One for Mimi7 which says it was started in round 40. Looks like there is room for a couple more names. And one for someone named Jane in West Yorkshire England (can't find her user name on the card). It's from round 65 and has plenty of room for names still.

mdkrouwel 10/22/2017 #

@fbresnah about the rating: I check each profile every round manually to check their scores (if they have lower than 5). People are only allowed in this swap if they have at least 50 type 2 or type 3 at their name.

mdkrouwel 10/22/2017 #

I created round 72 already. ;-)

Mark63 10/22/2017 #

I'm forwarding Mary Warns (USA) & Julia ? (USA)

Mark63 10/22/2017 #

JUST A SUGGESTION: Maybe it can be included in the rules that when we join the swap, we ALSO do what I have done above & state who's PC we are forwarding. Then EVERYONE will know if their PC is still in the system.

LovelyLindaSwap 10/25/2017 #

I have received cards back. I also have mailed some where my partner said she did not receive them. The envelope apparently got lost in the mail.

slckad 10/26/2017 #

I have not gotten any of my cards back yet and have chosen to drop out of the swap. I have two cards here with me now from Round #70 that will be returned to the Coordinator (whom I've contacted). The two cards I have are addressed to Dawn Anderson, and Katka Loutilova

pne 10/27/2017 #

I have cards for Dawn Nivera and Sarah Coller, both of them with lots of space.

widelo123 10/28/2017 #

I have postcards from @Maggie249 and @Natusa will be sending off in the next round.

lostinavalon 11/ 1/2017 #

I'm sending home a card for Tammy Donnelly.

mcovey 11/ 2/2017 #

I have @evaizzy to send on

spinjenny 11/ 2/2017 #

I will be sending on @SatisHuman 's card this time.

I have sent out 7 of my own cards in the almost 5 years I've been participating in this swap, the last one for R71. Some have come back, usually after quite a long delay, and others haven't, but I haven't kept track of the numbers.

Jafferty 11/ 2/2017 #

I have cards for Patricia LaPierre started on 6/2/17 (about 1/2 done) and Peggy Olivier started in Round #66, also about 1/2 done that I will be forwarding this round.

ReLigt 11/ 2/2017 #

Thank you @noname13 for the update about my card! Happy to know it's still out there!

ReLigt 11/ 2/2017 #

I will post a comment of the cards I'm sending before I drop them in the mail. :) I also have a list at home of nearly all the cards I've had come through, so I'll check it for names of some of you above. I think I started in round 58, and have 2 floating around.

spinweaver 11/ 2/2017 #

I have had 2 cards come home, I treasure them. I've also had 2 cards sent to me in the swap that never arrived in my mailbox. I like the idea of everyone listing whose card they got in any given round- I have a new (round 67) card from Stacey Coates to send on.

ReLigt 11/ 2/2017 #

Sending on cards belonging to Stacey Coates (what's your user name?) and @cookiechops (Jess). I don't have any other useful updates unfortunately. I had one of @tizzicat 's, but that was a year ago. @Caddi - I had one of yours in round 69.

ReLigt 11/ 2/2017 #

@tizzicat I had your card in Round #59 and I was never rated for that round, so it's possible it got lost on the way to the Czech Republic, sent to @Kacka Two other card were in that package, belonging to @lisalisa3 and @draco .

Am mailing out cards from Alaina and Jane M to Bonnie P today.

Caddi 11/ 4/2017 #

@juniebird - I'm actually sending on a postcard from you from Round 66 this round - so you have at least one still in circulation :)
