Description:

This is NOT the 32ct size but the larger boxed ones (250ct). If you use a template for the larger ones, make sure it matches the size of the larger ones. The one I have is approximately 4.75 x 2.75 x1.5 inches in size. Or a very similarly sized box. Nothing smaller is acceptable.

I'm am going to change the description slightly to allow for the container used to be a large sized matchbox OR a similar sized jar. The jar can be plastic or glass as long as it is shipped so that it arrives intact and unbroken. If you send a jar, the top MUST be decorated in a kawaii theme (again, sender's choice). Decorating the rest of the jar is optional but don't leave any labels on it if you recycle it. =) If a jar is used, it should be about 4 inches tall by at least 2-3 inches wide so that we are all sending about the same amount of stuff to each other. A large baby food jar is NOT big enough for this! (I'll do a baby food jar swap probably in the fall.)

You will decorate it with a Kawaii theme. The box decoration itself is SENDER'S CHOICE. However I expect you to check your partner's profile for the contents and not send anything from their dislikes. You have a month, so you can do some shopping if you need to! Acceptable brands are San-x, Sanrio, Q-lia, Kamio, Crux, Mindwave, Lemon Co, Shinzi Katoh, etc. NOT Disney, Diddl, etc. NOT dollar bin kawaii!

You will fill it with everything kawaii (brands from above). Make as much of it branded kawaii as you can. I realized some tiny items I have are probably not branded, but the bigger stuff I include will be branded. Some of it can be handmade but do not make it all handmade (about 30% handmade, 70% store bought). Handmade items don't have to be a branded character as long as they are kawaii. Mini Memos, sticker flakes, sticky notes/page flags, key chains, phone charms, deco tape, magnets, mini figurines, cabochons, pin back buttons, swap cards, erasers, mini pen/pencil, etc. Please do not fill it with only memos and stickers. That is NO fun to receive!

Make it something YOU would want to receive. It MUST be STUFFED! I suggest using a box to mail this so it won't get squished in transit.

Requirements:

  • MUST have at least 15 RATED swaps that are type 2 or 3. Type 1 swaps do not count towards this.
  • MUST use the bigger size 250ct matchbox (no little boxes for this one) OR a similarly sized box. Nothing smaller is acceptable! Michael's sells a plain cardboard box that is shorter, but taller. That one would be fine.
  • Matchbox MUST be stuffed to the point where it's hard to close!
  • You must have no late swaps on your dashboard.

Based off of an old swap I participated in back in 2010.

Also, please if you make your box then make it out of something STURDY! Regular cardstock is probably going to be too thin. Maybe a cereal or Coke box would work? =)

Sweetie, dearest, other terms meant to butter you up... would it be possible to get a list of items to include? I'm always at a loss at what goes in these and whimsy jars.

Basically, I need someone smarter than me to spell it out. ;-)

strawberrymilkmade 05/ 5/2014 #

cabochons, buttons, magnets, button pins, tiny tiny cute things! mini memo pads, stickers (steeekers <3), I'm totally tempted to go on. :3

strawberrymilkmade 05/ 5/2014 #

tiny rubber stamps!! (ooh) glitter, glitter in teeny tiny bottles (love!), lip stick samples (I guuuess? it would fit)

oh she listed it already! "Mini Memos, sticker flakes, sticky notes/page flags, key chains, phone charms, deco tape, magnets, mini figurines, cabochons, pin back buttons, swap cards, erasers, mini pen/pencil, etc. Please do not fill it with only memos and stickers. That is NO fun to receive!"

Please! Go on and on! We need to knowwwwwwww!

Wow. I need to read better. Sorry, @tiggerkitn25 , I totally spazzed on my reading skills there, huh? lol@me

Could this swap be matchbox or whimsey jar? A large matchbox is 20 cubic inches. I could figure out the equivalent amount of space in a jar or plastic box. (I'm better at decorating jars than constructing matchboxes. Really better.)

tiggerkitn25 05/ 5/2014 #

LOL, I don't mind having more ideas. =)

I'm also open to a vote for matchbox and/or whimsy jar. Basically I was trying to get a uniform container so we would all receive about the same amount of goodies. I'm okay with it being a jar myself, I just thought that a box would be better for the memos.

Treats

  • mini memo pads
  • cabochons
  • sticker flakes in a tiny plastic bag
  • pens
  • Japanese kawaii fabric
  • zipper pull
  • mini letter set
  • washi tape
  • small deco tape
manders2280 05/ 5/2014 #

In a box or a jar, mini memos would need a tightly wrapped cardboard sandwich to keep them nice and flat.

JemStone 05/ 5/2014 #

I'll try not to repeat anything stated above already.

  • mini deco tape
  • charms / keychains
  • candy
  • pencil toppers / caps
  • bento picks
  • cell phone charm
  • lucky stars
  • ribbon
  • hair clips
  • happypills
  • necklace
  • earrings

HERE is the template for the 250ct matchbox.

If you are doing hm stuff- magnets, labels, soaps (wrapped), candles, altered dominos, rings.... some people have mad skills after all..... :P

tiggerkitn25 05/ 6/2014 #

Some handmade stuff is okay, about 30% of the box would be fine.

Heirloom 05/ 7/2014 #

? So do handmade items need to incorporate branded kawaii?

tiggerkitn25 05/ 7/2014 #

Handmade items can be just kawaii, not a branded character. Like a kawaii mushroom mini plushie if that's what your partner likes. =)

I WANT HAPPY PILLS!!!!!

tiggerkitn25 05/ 8/2014 #

I was putting things together in one spot to see what I still need to buy for this swap. I realized some tiny items I have are probably not branded, but the bigger stuff I will include will be branded. Make as much of it branded kawaii as you can, but I understand if you can't identify the brand of everything.

tiggerkitn25 05/ 8/2014 #

Happy pills look very cute!

sebastian122 05/12/2014 #

From @tiggerkitn : Like a kawaii mushroom mini plushie if that's what your partner likes. =)

Anyone else get a subtle hint out of this?

tiggerkitn25 05/12/2014 #

LOL, well I'm not hinting anything. It was just the simplest mini plushie that wasn't a branded character that I could think of. I'm not that great at sewing. Personally I like squirrels, rainbows, and clovers best. =)

kasini 05/12/2014 #

I went to michaels to get a box but I just noticed it might be to small. It's a rectangular shape and has no measurements on it. I think it was the biggest box they had, I measured it at home it measures 4 x 2.5 x 3 inch. I'm also not sure if I can fill it with a lot of kawaii brand items. Besides memo sheets/pads, stickers and deco tape. I would like to join but I'm not sure :( I don't want my partner to be disappointed.

tiggerkitn25 05/13/2014 #

@kasini , I think I have that box. I bought it before making this swap and considered using it myself. I think it would work just fine. It's a little shorter but makes up for it by being taller. If you want to use this box, I'm okay with that.

As for filling it with branded items, as long as everyone does their best and sends what they would like to receive instead of junk then I think we'll be okay. I posted a little ways up that I noticed a lot of my tiny items were non-brand. Your bigger items like memo sheets/pads, sticker flakes, and maybe the tape should be branded. I have a few pins that are homemade but with branded characters on them. I hope this makes it a little clearer! =)
