Description:

This is the third reading log swap of 2013! It's pretty simple. Read. Write about what you read. Send your log off to two international partners.

You'll be sending your partners one reading log that contains your thoughts on all the books you read during the months of July, August and September of 2013. The log can be in any paper format.

You need to jot down the title, the author and give a minimum of a one paragraph description about each book and your thoughts.

Feel free to include things like favorite quotes, the author's Web site, etc.

This swap is about what you enjoy reading, not what your partners may or may not like. It doesn't matter what you read: fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, Manga, zines, audio books, e-books, children's, etc.

I recommend keeping a computer file for your log so it will be easy for your partners to read and so you won't lose it, but your log can be created in ANY format you like. It needs to be paper and mailed via post. The format is up to you: journal, letter, zine, tag book, etc.

The details:

a) international (sent via the post, NOT e-mailed)

b) two partners

c) minimum requirements: one book each month; one paragraph per book. Author, title, description/thoughts etc.

Voracious readers read more than a single book a month. So there's no maximum. Your reading log should be sent NO earlier than the 15th of September.

The fine print:

Newbies welcome. Rated players need a 4.8 or higher. If you are under the requirement PM me and I will take it as a case by case. No recent "1" or "3" ratings. All participants must have a completed profile. I ban after the swap closes. As both a swap participant and coordinator, I like people to have positive swap experiences, so please no forum drama.

Hopefully we won't need to, but I will arrange for angels if they are needed.

Regarding: Your reading log should be sent NO earlier than the 15th of September. So, we don't finish reading the entire month of September? I have done these swaps before but it has been at least over 2 yrs and I am rusty.

ImzadiRose 06/23/2013 #

If I understand it correctly, you do/can continue reading through the end of Sept with a send by date of Oct 8th. I believe she just adds that (Sept 15th) so that no one is trying to send early, but if someone doesn't get to read the last 2 weeks and wants to send theirs out, they can.

smadronia 06/23/2013 #

You can read until the end of September. I'm guessing the requirement of the 15th is so someone doesn't sign up, and then send out a reading log the first week.

doradora 06/24/2013 #

Just to be clear... should I write only about the books I enjoyed reading and I would recommend or I can talk about the horrible ones I read as well?

ImzadiRose 06/24/2013 #

@doradora ~ it's a reading log. I list everything I read, no matter what. I'm sure it's up to you though...

smadronia 06/26/2013 #

@doradora I'd cover everything you read that you're willing to talk about, whether you liked that book or not. For example, I read, and hated, The Host, but I'm not going to omit it from the list. Most of what gets omitted from my list I generally just forget about.

Thanks everyone for answering the questions left in the comments. But just to recap: @moxsapphir Please do read through and include any book that you read in september. ImzadiRose is correct, we just dont' want anyone to send in super early.

@doradora Please put in every book you've read! Even if you didn't like it, it can serve as a warning to others or pique their interest or start a reading discussion about it!

Cayleigh, thanks for continuing this swap. I always keep a record of what I read (have done so since I graduated from college) but writing about each book is extra an I enjoy it. Also enjoy reading others' lists.

Junotea 07/10/2013 #

Hi. I am new to swap-bot and I think I will enjoy it. I love reading and I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts on what I have read. I am also looking forward to hearing what others are reading and what they think of it and why. It might not be something that I would read but will still be interesting. :)

Junotea 07/11/2013 #

Question? Can I include newspaper articles or should it be just books magazines. etc.

CayleighTheShell 07/13/2013 #

@Junotea I'd like to keep the Reading logs to books and/ or magazines, things your partners could get their hands on. Newspapers might not be something everyone could have access to since there are so many different ones. And you could potentially read a LOT of newspaper articles and the log should focus mainly on books. HOWEVER if it is one that really made you think/evoked emotions etc. feel free to add your thoughts about it.

tizzicat 07/13/2013 #

As I am ploughing my way through the top 100 book cloud our local library issued (notice ploughing is the right word), this will give me the incentive to read faster!

LunaMoody 07/21/2013 #

You could also cut the newspaper article out and mail it with the list so your partner can read it.
