October Kawaii Lettersets!

I went to japan town and got a few letter sets, they are not Diddl or Disney, but they also arn't Sanrio or san-x either. Will they work? (I love kawaii, but im new to all the specific brands ect.)

That is a good question. Personally they would work for me as long as they are considered KAWAII. Other popular brands are Q-Lia, Crux, Mindwave, Pool Cool, and Lemon Co. Disney and Diddl are not considered kawaii as they are American and mass produced, you could find them everywhere.

I recently found some Daiso? lettersets but sometimes I find "no Daiso" listed on kawaii swaps. I'm not sure why as these were really cute. Basically for this swap as long as they are not dollar store items/dollar store quality and they are Japanese cute then it is okay.

where can i find letter sets to send i love the kawaii stuff but i am new to it also and have no clue the brand names or really anything about them lol

I have had good luck with Ebay, sometimes Etsy, Sanrio stores or retailers, and other online sellers. This one is based in Hawaii so the shipping is reasonable. Here is another link and there are several more in the group forums.

Aww :( I will be out of the country 2 weeks in October, I can't join this month, but I will join for sure next month. I love letter set swaps.

Dasio is kawaii, in my opinion, and I agree that they have some super cute patterns! But it's on the cheaper end, so I think that's why some people exclude it. I get a little weary of sending out relatively expensive brand (especially San-X character stuff) and getting dollar store, licensed Sanrio in return. :/

You know, I saw some reeeeally cute Miss Bunny Disney stuff recently... :D But we have to have a definition of kawaii that keeps it easy for newbies who don't fully understand the esthetic. That's why we list brands - I think it actually keeps it easier (and safer) for kawaii newbies. :)

It's easy to identify products from companies on the list of best-quality brands. Kawaii I buy on the Internet clearly states a brand in letters I can read, except Crux, and it's often visible in product photos. A few products say Crux, and a few have a website address that says crux, and the rest have a phone number that's the same as the one I found on products with a Crux label I can read. Now Sanrio labels products they produce directly as "Sanrio Original". If it doesn't say this, it's probably licensed.

Good brands use heavyweight paper for letter sets, both sheets and envelopes. I have some envelopes from a Chinese company that I use for packing memo sheets; these are significantly thinner than Japanese envelopes and cute in their own way.

Any 3 Kawaii lettersets that are 2 pages and 1 matching envie EACH. That does not include Disney characters or Diddl.
