About Me

I only do regional U.S. swaps only because of the cost of postage. Before I mail swaps I take a picture of the swap and of the mailing label with tracking. Especially with stocking stuffer swaps I worry the gift can get separated from my gift tag so a picture can straighten it out.

I rate fairly and accurately. I send nice swaps, and I also expect everyone to read and follow the swap descriptions if they want a good rating.

I'm a gracefully aging grandmother with a happy lifestyle. Kids and grandkids all grown up and moved away. San Diego native born and feel quite the lucky gal because of it! I've been sewing since I was 5 and learned embroidery, knitting, quilting and beadwork. These days I focus mainly on knitting, crochet, and felt items.

I joined a local Textile Study Group to surround myself with other hand stitchers and expand my skills. What a treat to take classes from such skilled artists in forgotten arts.

I live in a small place so I tend not to collect things that won't be put to use or consumed. My exception is Starbucks Christmas ornaments. So many things are pretty and will make me smile but I just have no where for them to go!

Someone had the wisdom to say this so I do this:

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It only annoys the pig and wastes your time.

You should never try to convince somebody to your way of thinking. Not only will you most likely be unsuccessful you may damage the relationship with the person at the same time.

I don't argue, or have discussions with argumentative and disagreeable people.

Things I make like to make

Ever changing items, always quality, but here's a few

Hand stitched reverse applique purse

Wool small sewing bowl and scissor keeper

Felt bird ornaments

Ribbon folding

Knitting and crochet item

few of my favorite things

Craft, knitting, crochet magazines (old is good - love 50s-70s stuff)

Soaps (tomato, rose, carnations, honeysuckle, and lilly)

Favorite colors: silver, pistachio green or avocado green.

Kitchen colors: Orange, harvest gold, avocado green and white. I love the contrast of white pottery, dark wood and silver.

I like dark roasted coffee, fine grind for pour over or even K-cups for when I'm rushing.

Diabetic diet so no sugar K-cups please.

Favorite snack: I eat on a diabetic diet so sugar-free cookies, gum, candies are appreciated.

Supply Wish List

Things to do with hand sewing, embroidery, knitting and crochet.

Dia de los muertos craft items. I like realistic style skulls, folk art style items, milagros, and small things for ofrendas.

Different looking buttons, vintage, and metal buttons

Metal buttons kits or refills for making covered buttons - any size.

I also knit bird nests for orphaned birds for Project Wildlife. They request cotton yarn so even tiny balls of scrap cotton is used up.

Private Trades I'll Do

I'll set up private swaps for these items.

** Felt handmade to-go size coffee cup cosies

** Crochet phone bags

** Thumb pincushions

Not my favorites

I DON'T DO PAPER CRAFTS - don't send scrapbook and card supplies. No ATCs, note cards etc. I wouldn't know what to do with them except to throw them out.

No Religious items or cards.

I've received quite a bit of these from swappers even after asking specifically not to.

Comment: Hi Deb - wow! thank you for the delightful package that arrived in my mailbox today! The idea to put things in the little clam shell box was excellent to keep everything protected yet light weight! I love the wreath, folk art templates, stamps (graduate one is perfect as I've scrapbook pages to make for my daughters graduation last year).and the trees are perfect to adorn my Christmas envelopes. I will give the Santa ornament pattern a try. I also loved your embossed card - a keeper for sure. Happy Thanksgiving. Dale
