Hello hello! Two hellos because I'm doubly happy today!

1) You're reading my profile, and that means happy mail will be in my mailbox soon! 2) I recently retired, and I'm having so much fun! Every day!

A fun little hobby I've picked up is collecting individual playing cards. I'm building Franken-decks, where each of the 52 cards is from a different deck. I especially like shaped playing cards, mini playing cards, and playing cards that have a picture on the # side.

Papercrafts are super fun! Right now I'm into paper weaving, watercolor painting, and handmade postcards. My collage postcards often include colorful, fun, and interesting postage stamps that were on postcards and letters I've received.

My current obsessions are making embroidered fabric postcards, seed beading, and quilting. I'm always on the alert for new crafts to try! Sashiko will be next.

I enjoy reading, a lot! It's a great way to go someplace when you have to stay home. I mostly read historical fiction. I also enjoy non-fiction war stories, and memoirs. Occasionally a good psychological thriller finds its way into my library bag.

I live in a small town in Washington state, USA (the "other" Washington, ha ha). It’s a beautiful place! Lots of mountains and forests with many trails. I'm a destination hiker. I look for waterfalls, rivers, lakes, and caves. I rarely do the same hike twice, except for a few favorites. I also look for beaches that you have to hike to get to.

I've loved writing letters ever since I was a kid, so I have lots of penpals. For anybody who's old enough to remember the personal ads in the back of magazines, that's where I found my first pen pals! In the last couple of years I've acquired pen pals in various assisted living facilities, and it's a real hoot getting to know them through letters. They are rich with life experiences, and have a lot to share.

I play the ukulele, old-time fiddle tunes, or jugband songs from the 1920-1930s are my favorites to play and sing. I also play the piano, and for that instrument, classical music is my favorite, especially sonatinas and waltzes. I can have the most stressful day ever, and if I sit down at the piano and play a classical piece for even just five minutes, all the negative energy vanishes instantly. I can literally feel it flow out of my body. I close my eyes and I smile big.

If you make homemade postcards, I would love to have one! ALL postcards will be appreciated and enjoyed, even store bought ones!

You know those personality tests you can take? Well, over the years I've taken several of those, and no matter which test I take it always shows that I'm an even split between all four basic personalities. That means I'm a very well balanced person, right?!

My life tends to be "organized chaos." Exactly the way I like it!
