"Be nice to me - or I'll crop you out!"
Hi, I'm Heather! I'm twenty-seven. I'm from Shermans Dale, PA, 17090, United States. I have a Checkered Giant Rabbit, named Meeko, and a brown Lionhead Rabbit namd Aimee. I enjoy scrapbooking and card-making, I just never seem to find the time to work on them! Haha! I work full-time at PHEAA-FedLoan Servicing as a Loan Counselor in a call center environment.
I am a history major and a geography minor, and I just graduated from Millersville University in December 2012. My favorite historical event is the American Civil War, I am fascinated by it!! I am also interested in the sinking of the Titanic and a little bit about the Holocaust and the Egyptian Pyramids. I love road trips and exploring and figuring out the history of some places! I love stopping to take pictures and read the history markers and roadside signs in some places to learn who was there and what might have happened in places in their past. "Who walked on the ground I am standing on now?"
A lot has changed over the years since I joined SwapBot. Mostly job-related that made participating in swaps virtually impossible due to time constraints. I'm looking to get back into it now to trade with people all over the world, again... and to help lift my spirits after losing my fiancee to health issues last November (2015).
EXPLANATION OF MY NICKNAME: 1.) Google (images) "Sizzix Original Machine" This will show you a picture of what the Sizzix Orignal Die cutting machine looks like. It's the red one with the metal bar and ball at the end of the handle. That's where the "Sizzix" part of my nickname comes from. They have since made newer , more lightweight machines. It is a scrapbooking/card making machine, but in many teacher resource rooms, you will find a similar machine in a larger, typically black format.
For the Sizzix Original machine, you will find an older bee/ladybug combination die and I have just picked up the nickname from that.
Country music, nineties musics, pop, some eighties music, some classic rock music
"Harry Potter" Series, "Twilight" Series, "Charlie Bone" Series
"Titanic", "Ghosts of the Abyss", "Glory", "Gods and Generals", "Gettysburg", "Pretty in Pink" "National Treasure (1&2)"
"Grey's Anatomy", "So Weird", "The Big Bang Theory", "Hell on Wheels", "Mysteries at the Museum"
I scrapbook, and work with apparel crafts some... I like making jewelry, and also general crafting. However, I haven't really done anything recently, due to not having much free time.
I am a geography minor, so I love maps. I am working on a map plot of all the places I receive cards/(packages) from, so if you could, please sign your cards/(and packages if I have time to enter a swap that sends packages) with your town/city, state/province, country (unless USA), and zip code so I can look it up in Google Earth and plot it. Thank you!
ESPECIALLY WINTER HOLIDAY CARD SWAPS: I am a Christian (Lutheran), however I fully appreciate getting cards wishing me "Happy other culture holidays!" I'm interested in learning about different cultures so feel free to send me a holiday card that doesn't necessarily say, "Merry Christmas!", maybe instead a "Happy All Saints Day! or Day of the Dead!" :D
POSTCARD SWAPS: Any postcards are fully appreciated, but I especially like historical and map type ones! :D Also I could care less whether the postcard is 'naked' or not. I would actually prefer something written and postmarked I believe, however, either is much appreciated. I guess I would rather be sent a smaller size (4"x6") post card, because I have a few 6"x6" mini scrapbooks, I keep them all in separated out to what type they are (state map/international/specific city/touristy place/random non-touristy/large postcards)... and some of the larger ones don't fit... But anything is fine! :)
American Civil War Post Cards are fantastic! I currently have at least one from each of the following: Bentonville Battlefield, Antietam, Harper's Ferry, Stones River National Battlefield, Confederate Cemetery at Winchester, Gettysburg, "Major General Philip Sheridan," "Confederates Plot Strategy (London Wax Museum, FL)", "Patee House Museum (St. Joseph, MO), "Confederate Fort on Peach Tree Street" (Brady Collection), "Union Ambulance Office," (Brady Collection), and a pretty sunset and cannon scene named, "Civil War Virginia". Thank you SO much to all that have sent me these so far!!
I've finally got a semi-collection of map postcards, I currently have US states AZ, TX, CT, CA, FL, ME, NY, NC, WA, LA, KS, NJ, ND, OH, MD, WI, SD, HI, ID, IN, GA, UT, KY, MN as well as a map postcard from Belgium; Hamburg, Germany; Amsterdam; (Entire country & Animated map) Canada; Central Plateau/New Zealand's North Island; and southern New Zealand. Any others would be GREATLY appreciated! :D
Any repeats would also be happily accepted as well, of course ;) I have four CA postcards and each one is different. :) The only repeat I've had so far is a Florida postcard, but one of the ones I was sent was blank on the back (from inside an envelope) so I'll be able to re-swap it. :)
Thank you!
This is my ongoing Facebook album of the maps of places I have sent to and recieved from, as well as pictures (started 12/13/12) of what I have sent.
Note: Most of the postcard swaps I do now have similar cards that I have already pictured, so I haven't posted them as much.
As any American (save for the Native people) I am a decendant of a transplant from another country. :) My dad is really into geneology and has tracked the Kuhn family as far as Peter Kuhn. (He has a hunch who his parents are, but he can't prove it.) Peter Kuhn was born in 1748, was married June 12th, 1769 to Catherine Eppler/Appler, and died in 1807. He came from Württemberg, Germany, which is now called Baden-Württemberg. He emigrated to America in 1760 aboard the ship Sarah. He established the Kuhn homestead in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, USA which is very, very close to the southern border (Mason-Dixon Line) between Pennsylvania and Maryland. Pennsylvania was established by William Penn in 1681. Peter Kuhn was born only about 67 years after the colony was established. He also fought in the American Revolution. Greencastle is about an hour's drive from my town of Shermans Dale, Pennsylvania.
