My favorites... MUSIC - Country music, some Classical, R&B especially 60s and 70s era. BOOKS - anything written by Judy Blume or usually fiction..lately reading Harry Potter series and read-alikes that are similar to H.P. in theme or subject matter..."Magyk" or "Flyte" by Angie Sage. Book themes I like mirror the kinds of movies I like--I tend to like books about relationships that reflect happiness but they also tend to show some heartbreaking aspect of life which I do find interesting to some degree. Reading author biographies lately before reading books authors have written to get a sense of what kind of person the author is; then compiling my own bibliography based on what's mentioned in the author biography. Also i'm doing my own study of poets..learning about them through their bibliographies and chosing a few of their written works listed in the biography to read and try to learn & understand; since poetry is not usually something I "get" thought i'd try to use tutorials to help me understand what they are saying. Have a few poems written by Allen Ginsberg-one of the beat poets from the 60's to learn from. CRAFTS..preferably sewing either by hand or machine and definitely anything affordable but still cute and girly. I admire Martha Stewart as a crafter and use some of her ideas around my home. MOVIES - oh, there are several; here lately i kind of like suspense but usually comedy and definitely romantic comedy/romantic drama with a twist. I have no one favorite movie but I remember "The Goodbye Girl" with Marsha Mason and Richard Dreyfus from the 70s. Anything Neil Simon did from the past is great. Also Goldie Hawn..you know that era. Not to forget "On Golden Pond" Katherine Hepburn, Henry Fonda, Jane Fonda; "Fried Green Tomatoes" and then finally "The Best Man" starring Morris Chestnut, Nia Long, Taye Diggs. Finally "Mommy Dearest". Just sooo many movies it hard to pick one! TV SHOWS - again with the 70s MaryTylerMoore, Rhoda, Maude, Barney Miller, The Jeffersons, Bob Newhart...just on and on with TV..not to forget I Love Lucy. HOME DECORATING COLORS - currently i'm into turquoise w/a rich chocolate brown. I have a beach cotage theme which ranges from cottage to rustic including Shabby chic. I love mixing rough textured items like starfish w/ shells and a little bit of silver in the knicknacks-also i'm using bigger items--vases, urns etc to decorate my place; but using fewer to have a more relaxed atmosphere. I'm currently collecting: fabric, Hello Kitty items vintage aprons, buttons--got a ton at an estate sale, raggedy ann dolls, vintage jewelry & accessories. CURRENT OBSESSION: Beatrix Potter anything! The movie "Miss Potter" starring Rene Zellweger and the website buttonwillowchronicles has tons of stuff related to that era--including anything to do with Jane Eyre, Sense & Sensibility. CLOTHING: Somehow i've developed a fascination of and love for vintage clothing primarily 30's and 40's era but also including those long dresses worn during the cowboy/Wild West time when the wagons were crossing the country to the West--you know those dresses they wore on Little House on the Prarie. I have recently begun collecting vintage jewelry--the latest era I have is for the 1970's and anything before. CURRENTLY COLLECTING: Raggedy Ann Dolls, Buttons and anything with Hello Kitty on it.
