About Me

I'm a writer and researcher who lives in the Pacific Northwest.

I love sending little packages, cards and fun things to friends and strangers alike. I've always been a fan of getting things in the mail and I love the idea that someone else gets to have that surprise too.

Please do send a note if you don't receive a swap from me. I'm happy to resend if something goes wrong.

I've started hosting more swaps these days. I put a priority on ephemera swaps because I find them the most fun to open (who knows what you'll get!). I welcome feedback on swaps.

I try to encourage kindness in swaps and in life. We're going through a lot as a planet right now and the mail seems a really good place to share some care and compassion when we can't physically be with one another. Join me!

Favorite Books

I'm a huge reader, lots of different types of books from novels to poetry to nonfiction. There's pretty much nothing I won't pick up.

These days I'm reading S.A. Chakraborty's Daevabad Trilogy (OH my gosh it's so good), Robin LaFever's His Fair Assassin Series, Rowanhorse's Trail of Lightning and Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate Series.

I'm in love with the poets David Whyte, Mark Nepo and Mary Oliver. Some favorite novels: A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Eight, Ender's Game. Favorite Authors: Octavia Butler, Jacqueline Carey, Sarah Waters, Brene Brown, Jessie Burton, N.K Jemisin, Tayari Jones and Nnedi Okorafor

Favorite Movies

Little Miss Sunshine, Stranger than Fiction, A Fish Called Wanda, Dr. Strangelove. I have a love of bad dance movies like Center Stage or Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights - I'm talking bad acting, bad plot, fantastic dancing! It makes me happy!

Favorite Crafts

I'm a knitter, sewer and generally an all around crafty type. I've always got various projects lying around that I'm working on (no there are NOT too many of them! :). I've started spinning yarn and I play around with quilting.

With paper, I really love watercolor and I like to play around with colors and doodles. I've been recently inspired by the Lynda Barry Book "Making Comics" if you want to swap bad drawings!

I'm getting back into stickers and washi tape. I like all kinds of stickers but tend towards more modern designs and patterns.

I love being inspired by creative people, if you have something artistic that you're trying out (drawing/doodling, artistic writing/calligraphy, small paintings/ATCs, whatever!), I'd be excited to see it!

Favorite Television

These days I want to watch things that are feel good like Community, Parks and Recreation, The Great British Bakeoff, Zumbo's Just Desserts and more.

I really likes scifi too and with my partner we'll watch the Expanse, Star Trek, Firefly, Dr. Who or Sherlock.

Favorite Tea

Tea, Earl Grey, hot.

You pretty much can't go wrong with sending me teas. I'm trying my to try a few more in the herbal/non-caffeinated variety, but I do love a good rich black tea, spicy chais and grassy green teas.

Favorite Colors

I love most things purple, blue and green or teal. I also like cool muted colors like grey, black and olive. Every once in a while I play with splashes of magenta and reds

But then again, rainbows and sparkles are fun too aren't they?

Things I like

I love walking through the woods, having tea with friends and generally enjoying life. For fun, I swim, walk and spend time with my sweetie.

Ferns, trees, mountains, anything related to the ocean, herbs/gardens, botanical prints, line drawings, drawings, mandalas (particularly those in nature), swirls, dogs/puppies (allergic to cats sadly), ducks, striped things, geometric designs, black and white photos, pages from books turned into art, stamps, handmade or artistic paper, marbled paper, Japanese design principles, minimalism, modern designs, spirals and patterns.

I adore vintage post cards, old school science fiction, pretty patterns and random postcards from places I've never been.

I'm a big fan of quotes and interesting questions and ideas. I love poetry, so if you love a poem and want to include it any package you can be assured I will enjoy reading it.

If you doodle, zentangle or can do fun fonts/calligraphy, I'd love to see it! I really appreciate art, even beginner art.

I really enjoy hearing about you and what you're thinking about if you write. I appreciate any of the following in a note or card: * A description of something you saw or did today. * Something you would do in your perfect day. * Your comfort food and what makes it so wonderful * What your favorite book or movie and why. * Things that make you laugh. * Bits of trivia.

I'm rarely offended and hard to disappoint. I welcome things that are darker or weird (skulls/blood/skeletons/witchy/runes etc)

Fiber/Fabric/Yarn!

I've started spinning and am getting OBSESSED. If you have any handspun and want to swap, let me know and we can do a private swap! If you have roving to offload, I'd love that too.

I do some quilting, often hexies or 3" squares. I like cottons in modern patterns. I deeper/jewel toned colors better than pastels and tend towards cooler colors (blues, purples, greens, magenta)

In yarn I like most natural fibers like wool, cotton, linen. I'm not a huge fan of acrylic unless it's chenille or mixed with something. Extra points for the lux stuff like silk/alpaca/merino. Totally not required.

Gauge is open, though I tend to like worsted/sport/chunky. That said I also enjoy a good ball of sock yarn. Especially those ones which shift colors. So fun to knit with! If you happen to have ravelry patterns you love, I'd be interested in hearing!

So then I ate something and then still felt pretty verklempt at this amazing package you made for me!!! I love ALL these stickers and am so excited about them. The FRIDA is so cool! I'm currently needlepointing a Frida. The We the Indivisible sticker is just so beautiful. THANK YOU for all the amazing postcards! There are so many! And the awesome patterned and homemade(!) paper! I'm excited to discover Pinkernity through these milk stickers. Did you make this zine? I absolutely love it. It's really special. Wow. I could go on and on. Thank you so much for your coolness and generosity!! :):):):):)
Response: So glad you liked it! We have a lot of overlap of interests, so it was really really fun to come up with stuff for you! I TOTALLY want to hear more about your Frida needlepoint. The zine is from the amazing Sarah Mirk. The paper I made a few years ago and meant to do things with, but now it's fun to share it! So glad you enjoyed!!!

But then again, never give up hope...Thank you for the lovely surprises, adorable paper and fabric. Great stickers, didn't have any in that theme. Thank you very much for all the goodies.
Response: So glad it finally made it! That took a while didn't it?

Comment: Thanks for the lovely goodies! My only suggestion would be to use an extra ounce stamp when sending something bulky (so it gets hand cancelled) and/or put some packing tape side to side to prevent the postal machine eating it up, which happened in this case. Luckily, the inside goodies were safe!
Response: Ah what a bummer, you're not the only one who has had something eaten up by the postal machine. So glad they got there safely anyway!
