About Me

The excitement of getting a rating is pretty cool. I look forward to the hearts mostly. What can I say? I'm not especially crafty (as I've stated in my profile below), but I do care what is being put in the envelope. Recently I've put a lot of extras in the envelopes. Nothing is ever said and I've received just a plain ol rating. It's hard to get motivated to keep doing the extras when you're not appreciated for the effort in the first place. sigh I didn't think you had to be an "artsy" person or a certified specialist in crafts to swap on here. But alas, I guess so. It's just a bit discouraging.

I'm a stay-at-home mom, for now. I'm also an elementary school teacher. I've recently moved to Texas from Arizona. I've always thought swapping would be a good idea, but until I saw someone talk about it on Facebook, I had no idea it existed! I'm excited to swap with others! I'm not especially crafty, but I do put a lot of thought in what I send to people. It should be interesting to now swap with people I don't know!

Likes:

interesting facts/neat things from foreign countries other than the USA - old photos of people in black and white/sepia tone (not reproductions, real photos) - ATC backgrounds - variety of music - smarties candies - dr. pepper soda - hockey - mice - pizza - disneyland/disney characters - reading - friendly notes - the colors blue and green - pressed pennies - cartoons - poems - encouraging words - pictures of nature - inspirational books - digital photography - games (board or online) - regional souvenirs - artistic things - cars for my kiddo -

Dislikes:

smoking/smoky smelling things - vulgarity - crudeness - "no ships" lazy ratings

Favorite Music

I have a wide variety of music likes. I enjoy music with high bpm, top 40, Christian (modern), trance, electronica, rock, and oh so much more. Tiny bit of rap and country, but I'm pretty picky about those kinds.

I also like slow music that has feeling in it. Examples: Norah Jones, Andrea Bocelli, Dido, etc.

Favorite Books

I read the Artimis Fowl series and enjoyed that. I read most of the Harry Potter books, but then life got in the way and I stopped. I've read the Yada Yada Prayer Group series and really liked that too. I've read the Twilight series. (The books were so much better than the movies!) I'm just looking for the next series of interesting books that don't take a lot of thought. I need a relaxing reading time, not stressful!

Favorite Movies

I enjoy comedy and drama mostly. I do like animated movies and some romantic movies.

I have a toddler son that is way into cars - So, we watch the movie CARS almost every day. sigh

Favorite Television

I like dramas mostly. Sitcoms can get pretty boring after a while with the same ol same ol. Medical shows are pretty cool as well as Discovery health channel. I do like those Repo shows, Cops, Dog TBH, and a couple others, but I'm not typical I guess.

If there is a hockey game on TV, that is what I prefer to watch!

Favorite Crafts

I REALLY want to do scrap booking but never was taught how to do it for real. I try, but then I get frustrated. I'm very crafty otherwise and always put a lot of thought into what I create. Maybe that's why I get frustrated with the scrap booking - I want it to be quicker and it's not. lol

I am LEARNING to do ATC's. Mine may not be wonderful, like so many of yours, but I try. Someone recently sent me some examples on how to do them and I appreciate her!!!

Children

I have one toddler boy right now. He's really into Matchbox type cars, music, ducks, puppies and kitties, books, and balls. He's extremely tall for his age - he looks like a 3 year old. (Daddy is very tall too)

I'm expecting another boy in February 2010. I'm excited about it!

Husband

I have such a wonderful husband. He's so important to me. We met while working at the same school in Arizona. After a short dating period, we knew we were meant to be with each other. We had our dream wedding and shortly after that began our family.

He's an amazing person and is a great daddy.

Wish List

If you want to add an extra smile (not just to receive a heart) these things would be considered "smile worthy" in my world.

Cute tags or neat little notes that I put my name and swap name on so I can put inside envelopes/packages to make them special for the next person.

Extra effort. By that I mean that I can tell you didn't just throw something in the envelope.

Something from my profile. That way I can tell you read it! lol

Anything that could be used for an ATC.

Things that are Cars (the Disney movie) related for my son. (or just plain ol matchbox-type cars)

Stamps.(new) I'm broke. What can I say?

Stamps that are not from the USA. (used)

Encouraging words are always nice.

Music

Tea - no chamomile, please. And, if you send it from another country and it's not printed in English, please tell me what is in it or what it's called. Thanks.
