I grew up in a big family (one of eight children, oh my!) and being one of the youngest, my parents had pretty much perfected parenting by the time I was born. They were really big on nurturing us in all areas, whether it be the arts, sciences, or just reading.
The most fulfilling event of my life thus far was the opportunity to be a student teacher at a museum in my hometown for their summer art camp. I taught printmaking, sculpture and mixed media to kids 5-13. It was a blast, and it definitely gave me a whole new sense of appreciation for my parents.
I am a 20-year-old college student majoring in marketing and double minor ing in photography and anthropology, and I use arts and crafts as a form of mild stress relief. My favorite art style would have to be art nouveau. I am a collector of postcards and interesting stamps as well as the miscellaneous feather or interesting rock that I find on my morning walks.
I am also an avid reader, I am absolutely in love with all of Neil Gaiman's books, and I'm also a big fan of the HP series, LOTR, and Wheel of Time.
I love movies where the guy gets the girl or vice versa. Top favorites would be The Princess Bride, Stardust, When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Across the Universe.
I am a huge music lover, but my favorites of the moment are: The Killers, Ben Folds, Sondre Lerche, Bright Eyes, Kings of Leon, Blitzen Trapper, Sufjan Stevens, David Bowie, Billy Joel, and Imagine Dragons.
Color(s): Purple and Green
Animal: Narwhals, mythical/fantastical beasts, Bears
Hobbies: Hiking, taking pictures, seeking out photo booths, reading scientific journals, reading novels, letterboxing
MISC: steam punk, magic, gems and crystals, found objects, mythologies, teas! I am a huge fan of any and all teas, my favorite at the moment is this minty green tea, but I love visiting local tea parlors to try out their latest mixes.
Religion: I am a protestant Christian, but I enjoy learning about all types of religions/spirituality and would enjoy receiving anything related to any religion.
Allergies: I am allergic to mangoes, smoke, latex, bandage adhesive, and dust/pollen/dander. However, I have a pretty regular allergy medicine regimen (I'm also allergic to the outdoors so I have to take medicine regularly) so its not a big deal if your stuff has been exposed to those things.
Crafts I do: Papercrafts! If it involves paper, paint, markers, ink, ephemera, etc. I probably love to do it. (This includes ATCs, mail art, zines and to some extent scrap booking... I JUST started to smashbook and I'm addicted, so if you have anything that could help me with that that would be greatly appreciated), Cross Stitches, Embroidery, Jewelry (Metal Work)
Crafts I Would Like to Try: Wood Burning, Sewing, Felt Work (and most likely a ton more that I can't think of at the moment)
