About SWAP-ing

Yes, I have one OLD swap pending (due to COVID, partner on & off swap-bot) but I am participating & hosting.

ALWAYS please let me know if you think I missed anything, I’ll work to make it right - if something has not arrived, machines and weather ate it, I misinterpreted the swap, postage was due, whatever.

FYI: Items mailed on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday may not be postmarked until Monday, sometimes Tuesday. Monday US/local holidays in 2025: Jan20, 2/17, 5/26, 9/1, & 10/13. In 2026: 1/19, 2/16, 5/25, 9/7, and 10/12.

Even for "naked postcard" swaps, it's ok to send in an envie, if

  • you are my partner in more than one swap,
  • if you glued well but there is is too much texture,
  • you used some material that would blur with a top coat (maybe pastels, chalk, ...?)

I Pledge to Rate. Partners: Let me know if life happens and you need an extension.

Dh and I are allergic to cigarette smoke. Let me know if you've got smokers in your house. The house is also allergic to dogs - but that should not be an issue with paper craft, more with fabrics/lace.

Long profile warning: use headings to find what you need.

About Me & My Creating

I enjoy naked postcards but I prefer getting intact mail art and postcards. Please do not tape over your art! Using an envelope or plastic sleeve is not an excuse to skip gluing, but may be required if the top layer is easily scratched off.

I love getting mail, creating, the light in autumn, some people, colors,

Favorite Books

Read a lot, especially mysteries, fantasy, and information on education & learning. Love myths and legends and non-Disney fairy tales, Favorite authors: Family's: Terry Prattchet (for his DiscWorld books) & Tamora Pierce. Picture books: Jan Brett.

I/we rarely use bookmarks, any would have to be glitter-free and the bit that goes in the book must be thin and flat, sad this needs explaining. (Charms or beads may hang out or over the top!)

Likes

Colors: jewel tones Purple, turquoise, lime green, burgundy, most anything but princess-y or “pesto-bismol” pink and not very fond of pastels. Love use of script/text & good black and white pieces too!

Handmade Postcards. (no longer collecting ATCs although have a ton) Clever use of book pages and maps, non-English text, music scores, maps, paper you made.

I don't need extras but if the swap requires QUICK FLATS: washi tape, napkins, (used) postage stamps (especially people, animals, flowers, architecture, art/artists). I don't want/need recipe cards, memo pads, ATCs nor bookmarks.

Postcards: love hand-made! In general: art, natural settings, architecture or "local people". Not interested in kitch-y tourist postcards or naked people on (or off) the beach. geek-y ones are appreciated

Most Asian & ethnic things are fine - but I don't appreciate much kawaii.

Dislikes

Non-food ALLERGIES My family is allergic to cigarettes, cats & dogs so for crafts with fabric & pets walking around, I probably should not be the one you send it to! If you do with a sender's choice - PLEASE let me know so that I can keep it away from the family, or pass it on. I will rate ignoring cigarette smell but warn me so someone else can open it - outside.

Other dislikes

  • Christian religious pieces. (non-religious Christmas items are OK in November & December.)
  • Loose glitter. A tiny bit on a ATC or postcard (if USPS allows it) but certainly zero on a bookmark!
  • Don't appreciate much Pepto Bismol pink, Barbie, or helpless princesses. Nor Disney.

Food & Drinks

Lots of food allergies. Cannot have gluten, wheat, dairy, oats, soy (not even soy lecithin!), beets or carrots (common food colorings) & more.

  • Tea only in manufacturer's packaging, no unwrapped tea bags. No drink mixes. (Dh & I get that unpleasant after-taste from artificial sweeteners.)

  • Favorite teas (today): Republic of Tea sangria-robous, turmeric-ginger, (black tea) Prince of Wales, mint green tea, and (only iced in summer) grapefruit robous.

  • Love dark chocolate. Prefer European chocolate made in Europe (Same brands made in the US follow different recipes!) I've never appreciated Godiva. Won'r eat Lindt anymore. Not a fan of peanuts in chocolate.

Great Hosts

Comment: Thank you for the New Year pc. I love the texture in the circular pattern. Was that done with texture paste? The gold ribbon adds such a festive touch. Sorry for the late rating. I hope you have a healthy and joyous 2025.

Comment: Thank you, Robin. I like your fun, and yes, quirky envie. Your postcard reminded me of the quote attributed (perhaps erroneously) to Picasso: "Good artists copy. Great artists steal." Hope your snow lasted through Christmas, & wishing you a joyful & creative new year.

Response: Thank you! Confessing, the dragon was cut out with an ellison dir cut tool that a closed since COVID education center had.

Thank you Robin for the surprise extra card for the Person-with-animal-head swap!! The well-trained crocodile is fun! I agree, searching for fitting pieces takes sometimes more time that I would like. Especially when I get distracted by other pieces I find during the process and start to work with them too.
