I'm a recent art school grad with a BFA Honours in graphic design and an additional major in photography. I've been taking both since I was 15. I love all things designed. I live in Canada. I have 2 dogs (a rotty/shepard mix and a pug), piles of paper, books and magazines everywhere, and have a bit of a shopping problem ;-) I'm a book/magazine-a-holic and I really would like to learn how to knit, crochet, and cook well. I am currently learning letterpress and pattern/textile design.

I haven't had a penpal in ages so I'd be happy to write someone a letter if they're interested or interested in my interests!

I collect teacups, vintage Penguin books, prints and textiles.

Things I like:

• paper (scraps, scrapbooking sheets, vintage cards/ads/ticket stubs, from books/magazines, wrapping paper - I especially love letterpressed anything)
• typography (I love letters and numbers)
• gocco / silk screen
• textiles
• woodtype
• pattern (graphic or intricate and just plain lovely)
• pandas
• birds
• stationary (envelopes are love)
• pens and pencils
• journals, notebooks, agendas, phone books...it's all good!
• autumn, my favourite season
• peonies
• orange / (red) berry flavoured anything
• vintage anything (I love things with a story!)
• notions like ribbon, buttons, thread (vintage spools!), glass top pins, pin cushions, etc.
• perfectbound notebooks, books, journals, etc.
• tea cups, saucers, creamers, tea pots, etc.
• I usually love little inexpensive things from Chinatown.
• grosgrain and satin (ribbons)
• gloss finished ceramics (like white or aqua - so pretty)
• magazines - design/art/home decor (f.y.i. I subscribe to Domino, Chocolat, Print and How.)
• stamps (I loved those date ones so I could pretend to be a librarian when I was younger)
• (and on that note) cards - like library cards (the kind that get date stamped), unique playing cards or from games, pretty, unique, or well designed business cards, greeting cards, vintage or new.
• vintage/new tea towels/handkerchiefs/linens/napkins (a good visual example: http://ohjoy.blogs.com/myweblog/2007/05/fleamarket_goo.html)
• clutches. I heart clutches!
• polka dots, stripes, floral, houndstooth, herringbone
• wallpaper
• birds (little tin, ceramic, fabric, or plastic ones)
• scarves (I love cotton or silk ones to tie onto my bag or around my neck - so chic!)
• pins/broaches - fabric covered ones, silver ones, gold ones. I have a lot of jackets and they're a good way to switch it up!
• inexpensive cocktail rings. Who has money for a real one? :-P sized about 7-8.
• embroidered pillowcases or napkins, etc. Embroidery is pretty.
• baker's twine

Colours:

• black
• white
• aqua
• turquoise
• raspberry
• aubergine (dark purple/violet)
• chocolate brown
• ivory/cream

Things I dislike:

• strongly themed items
• pastel colours (unless used effectively)
• muddy colours (I like bright and saturated)
• cartoon-i-ness
• strongly scented items
• visually cheap items (inexpensive can be beautiful and not look like a happy meal toy! lol)

I like a song for the sound, or the lyrics, so it's pretty broad. I love emotionally charged songs like any girl would. But I mostly enjoy R&B.

Mostly paper crafts, I like to make books. As a graphic designer, I love scrapbooking, or anything where I can design an aspect of it. I'm trying to be more crafty.

Most of my books are about design (graphic, architectural, fashion, textile, pattern, industrial and type design), art, or cook books. I do squeeze in a fictional or non-fictional book every now and then. But my all time favourites are Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Oddly enough, I don't own my own copy of either... I suppose I'm looking for the right copies ;-P
