I have been married for 32 years. We have three daughters. Our oldest is 28, married for 3 years and just gave us our first grandchild, a boy. Our middle daughter (25) is getting her PHD in American History and she is getting married the summer of 2010. We also have a miracle daughter who is 13 and in 8th grade. Boy does she keep us young. Both older girls live close and we get to be with our family quite a lot. Family = love!!
Oh my goodness, I just love movies!! Especially black and white. I can watch the same movie over and over and never tire. I love too many to even begin to list them! The only kind of movie I do not like is a western!
Hmm, I really like TV! I know I should not watch a lot, but I love to watch TV or a movie while I hand quilt!
I use to adore reading, but I lost some of my eye-site, so reading is hard for me now. Audio books do not hold my interest as when I read a book I become that character and I like to imagine how they would sound. Good thing I like TV and movies so much!
My mother was a sewer, I remember waking up in the morning and my Barbie would be wearing a new outfit. I still have the original Barbie! My great-grandmother quilted, I remember playing under her frame. Therefore, I grew up with fabric.I made lined jackets and blouse with cuffs and covered buttons. However, in the spring of 1981 when I was pregnant with my first child, I made a quilt. That is when it began and it will never end. I love to quilt. Now, I need to preface this with I love to hand quilt, I do not like to piece. I know this seems silly but to me there is nothing better that a good movie, chocolate, and a quilt on my lap being quilted.
My taste for fabric has not changed too much in the past years. I lean toward bright prints, novelties, and PINK, if you want a best friend for life, just send me pink! I have seen a change in fabrics in the past few years, leaning toward the modern, I will say I have fallen head over heals in love with aqua and red. Orange is also a new color I did not know I would like. My heart stills belongs to pink but I am trying to “come out of my box”. Fabrics I do not use batiks, muted colors and very rarely civil war prints. I have also become fascinated with Japanese fabric and I am building a nice stash. Fabric I love today, Katie Jumps Rope, I hope to make a disappearing 9 patch with this fabric. It seems that I would be hard to please but really, I am open to new things!
What do I do in a day, well besides being a wife, mother; and now a mother-in-law and a new grandma! I also have an on-line fabric shop. I have a blog, which is just so much fun. I love to host swaps and right now I am hosting a Halloween swap, the blocks that I am receiving are truly amazing. I have met some of the kindest, warmest, and sweetest people from all over the world. Blogging has opened up the whole world to me. Please stop by and see what is going on in my life!
