Mooriel Cowparsley is a 50something, ( I try to forget the something part!), female from North Wales, UK. I live with my partner in a small seaside village. I've lived here all my life, and live in the house that my grandmother was born in. I love where I live, everybody knows you in a village.
My job is supporting and teaching teens with emotional and behavioural difficulties. I find being creative calms both me and them!!
As far as textiles go, free machine embroidery is my first love, hand embroidery next. I've done some jewellery making, card-making and tried crochet. I enjoy paper crafts, especially collage and I have really enjoyed making postcards and ATC's. I have also made sock monkeys, plaited scarves, tie-dye clothing and felt badges. In short I am a craft junkie and will try almost anything to get a fix!! I've recently started needle felting and am really enjoying this.
Most classic b/w films, any of the Ealing comedies. "Rebecca" is a favourite, also anything with Bette Davis or Margaret Rutherford. Love musicals, especially older ones, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, Fiddler on the Roof, South Pacific etc I also enjoyed all the Harry Potter films and love the Star Wars series of movies. Add to this some "blokey" films like "Ice Cold in Alex", "Battle of the Bulge" and most pre 1960 westerns.
This changes as I read something new, I read lots of novels, I like historical settings but will read almost anything. There are some constants, I enjoy John Wyndham and Neville Shute, also Margaret George. I love diaries, looking in to other peoples lives so closely is fascinating. I've now joined a reading group and am having to read stuff I wouldn't normally look at - it's weird having somebody else choose your books!!
Any detective show, particularly Poirot, Miss Marple and Hetty Wainthrop. I love Project Runway, wish we had a UK version. I enjoy CSI/Criminal Minds type shows and love a quiz show too.
Some information doesn't seem to fit anywhere else so here goes; I'm an ex-smoker
I hate exercise
I love purples, lilacs and blues
I have a "thing" about buttons, I love 'em.
I don't think I'm very patient but apparently other people do
I love quizzes and puzzles
I play computer games in my free time
I love to cook and to eat
I'm overweight (see above!)
I collect Russian nesting dolls
I love unusual things eg I have a round dice!
I'm very sentimental
I like to read in bed
I enjoy train travel
I enjoy playing board games (and I'm very competitive!)
I drink tea but not coffee, and I only drink "real" tea, that is the good old British cuppa.
I'm ashamed to say that I love a McDonalds or a KFC even though the're not good for me
I love bananas
I don't wear makeup
My favourite students are the ones with Aspergers. (Shouldn't have favourites but I do!)
Racism, agism, fattism etc etc. I consider myself to be fairly tolerant.
I hate cruelty to animals, children and quite frankly anyone/thing.
I despise bullies.
On the lighter side of dislikes, I don't like celery, peas, beans (a bit of a green theme here!)
I hate the taste of gin, whisky and dark rum.
I'm not keen on the "bear-baiting" chat shows that actively encourage guests to be foul and get laughed at.
I don't like "cutesy" animals, well nothing too sugary sweet. This includes most Disney stuff, unless it's vintage Mickey.
I'm not overboard on yellow.
I don't like dolphins, angels, cutesy little girl/boy or animal themes. On their own all these things are OK, its when they get covered in glitter and sentiment that I loathe them!
Glass beads
Glass buttons
Tiny things - doesn't matter what they are as long as they're tiny!!
Unusual papers
Art postcards
Chocolate
Wooden christmas decorations
Anything Russian doll related
