About Me

July 2020: the pandemic infection rate for Florida is sadly out of control. I have relocated to our cabin in Northeastern Vermont for the duration and hope to be home in late September. In the meanwhile, I have Internet which is basically squirrel powered. Therefore, I must take a break from swapping Until I have a reliable Internet connection. My husband, who must remain in Florida for work, will be shipping me the on open swaps so that I can catch up on ratings when I have some connection. In the meanwhile, everyone I have encountered through swapping remains in my prayers. Stay safe, hold your loved ones close, and God bless.

5/20: I received a 1 rating!!! The swapper did not send me a message to say my envelope was not received- just rated me a 1! Yukes. I resent and the situation took several weeks to resolve. Please, if you do not receive a swap, message me first. I promise to do the same. I will resend even if you don’t change the rating. Swapping is supposed to be fun, and this just makes me cry.

5/12: My spouse is in hospital. Neg for covid but my swaps may be delayed. [update 6/11: he is home but partially blind. Still looking for a cause and no guarantee he won’t lose all sight. If you pray, please think of him.]

IMPORTANT NOTE; I am using usps.com to calculate mailing costs and leaving the envelopes and packages in my home mailbox for carrier pickup. This results in 3 consequences:

  1. I’m doing my bit as a ‘hot spot’ resident to minimize contact;
  2. On days when we have a sub postal carrier sometimes they don’t pick up my outgoing mail so it might be a days’ delay - and recently our carriers are not delivering OR picking up mail every day;
  3. The Post Office may say I calculated incorrectly. This may result in postage due. Apologies in advance, and I will pay the postage AND make you a ‘regret’ gift! Thanks for your understanding.

Recovering hoarder, working on destashing a shop’s worth of papercrafting supplies, ribbon and fabric. Know anyone who works in stained glass? I have a full closet of bevels I would love to share.

Disabled with a chronic pain condition about 10 years ago early retirement gave me time to focus on stained glass and fused glass art and other projects as my situation allows. Proud parent of 3 grown children with 1 on the autism spectrum; 3 grandkids ages 3 to10. Housemom to a 10 player Dungeons and Dragons weekly game preceded by dinner which I prepare.

Hoping swapping will give me more chances to create and reduce the supplies - were I immortal there would still be plenty remaining!

About Me

Likes - favorite color is green but I also like jewel tones and brights. Strong preference for handmade items; recipes (particularly baking); herbal teas and flavored cocoas. Love Jane Austen novels and PD James mysteries; Harry Potter; Peanuts characters; Mr. Rogers and his simple philosophy of the power of kindness; old movies.

Dislikes - smoke-scented items (family member allergies); political themed items (please let’s all be kind to one another!); raunch (enjoy, just not my thing). Don’t need more stickers.

Know a quilter? I have fabric to share!

Favorite Crafts

If you made it, I’ll love it - time is a precious gift.

I work in stained glass and kiln fused glass. I sew simple things and recycle clothes into bags. I make cards and paper crafts. I love to bake (check out King Arthur Flour’s recipe site) and cook. I am a beginning weaver. I felt (my spouse says if the 16th century returns we are all set). I used to bead, now do so rarely. I make natural products for colds, skin products (in olden times called ‘simples’). - see 16th century compliment, above. I am (slowly) learning to play the harp. I am terrible so far. I cannot knit or crochet. Took a class and they refunded my money!

I love to receive

Handmade items of any kind Knitted or crocheted washcloths Old sheet music and lyrics Travel sized items and samples ATCs with/about literary characters (including Pooh’s family; Peanuts; Beatrix Potter; Harry Potter; Flower Fairies and anyone from old books) Herbal tea, cocoa Autism themed items (not Autism Speaks, please) Mechanical pencils (constantly losing mine) Notebooks - I incorporate them into repurposed old books Short (no-show) socks\ Charms and metal accents for cards Fortunes from cookies

I am hoping to give more than I receive, so prayers and poems are my favorite extras rather than “stuff” - all belief systems are welcome; I have much to learn ...

Please share with others, and not with me: - short pieces of washi tape or ribbon. I have so much! - Odd Envelopes, unless handmade - ephemera - again, overloaded -scraps of paper or fabric

I love chocolate but remember it’s hot in Florida! Don’t send it between May and October (hot cocoa is always welcome)

Current challenges

And now about the current situation...

Like most of you, my family is sheltering at home at the moment. Schools are closed until further notice - at least a month. No one we know is ill, but we all know people who have been exposed. Every day we adapt and triumph by keeping fear at bay. Therefore, I would love to hear how you are managing and what keeps you upbeat - count your blessings and tell me how you are finding the light in the every day. My gift is more time with my family and the chance to share the things I love with the people I love. May the same be true of you.

Response: I am very sorry! Did you contact me prior to rating to ask? Since this was just a first class mailing all I have is my word, but my notes say that you like hearts, paper, sewing, jewelry making and lace, as well as Christmas in red and gold. My recollecton is that I sent This swap and the Stuff the Mailbox swap at the same time, but I don’t recall if it was in the same envelope. There would have been a separate note even if I sent them in the same envelope. Please let me know if that helps. I will resend as well.
