This is for the APDG ~ Share Your State! Swap

I live in the state of Pennsylvania

State Motto is “Virtue, Liberty, and Independence” “We are known as The Keystone State” The State Bird is Ruffed Grouse The State Tree is Hemlock
State Flower is Mountain Laurel State Animal: The Whitetail Deer

Aerial Photo of Minersville – where I live Population in 2015 roughly 4,500 We are an eight Red Light town!!

Minersville was settled in 1783 a settler by the name of Thomas Reed.. Settlers engaged in timbering as their first livelihood, but experienced difficulty in transporting the heavy logs out of the valley, In 1814 actual mining took place due to the completion of the Schuylkill Haven and Mine Hill Railroad that provided the means to transport the coal produced in the region

Photo of the St Nicholas Coal Breaker still in operation today

The Oldest Operating Brewery –Yuenglings - in the USA is located in Pottsville – 4 miles from Minersville It boasts an unmatched record of continuous operation since 1829 and the longest uninterrupted history of management by a single family in the country.

Original Building in 1829

Same building today
