Well... I'm 26 years old. I love following a whole food plant based diet. Soon to be mother of a baby boy. (Due April 16 - Jack Logan) Currently playing mother to two gorgeous Boston Terrier girls.
I'm a Canadian postal worker. Can't say it's what I dreamt of being when I grew up...but who says I'm even grown up yet?? I've been with the post office since I was 16 so I know it inside and out. Might sound strange, but it makes me interested in other countries postal systems and post office memorabilia. (including stamps)
Went to school for small business, and then for holistic nutrition and now taking a part time course in accounting and bookkeeping.
My biggest hobby is probably cooking. I pride myself in making almost all my food from scratch. (Looove my Vitamix!!!) I'm pretty good at free-handing recipes. Just recently decided to attempt gluten free baking.
Second hobby is probably wheeling and dealing - I'm a born entrepreneur, now if only I could set my focus on one pursuit...
And third...LOVE geocaching! If you haven't heard of it, look it up. I love being outside and the whole treasure searching idea behind it.
Also love going to thrift stores. I like trying to find cheap brand name stuff, children's picture books with nice artwork, veg cookbooks and neat puzzles. I recently took up "puzzling" as a way to curb the amount of time i spend watching tv. It's hard to find really cool puzzles though. I dislike the generic landscape/flowers/animals ones. I want something cool. Like comic book characters or something! Sigh.
I used to listen to all kinds of music, but lately I've been stuck on the following... - David Bowie - Johnny Cash - Rammstein - Black Keys - Tragically Hip - Nick Cave
I primarily read non-fiction. Books about being vegan, whole food diet, recipe books (veg, vegan, or gluten free), Buddhist philosophy, evolution, environmental, science related to nature or health.
The book I finished most recently was If The Buddha Had Kids - LOVED IT, Now I'm onto If The Buddha Got Stuck.
For me to read Fiction it has to be something extraordinary. I just feel like there is so much to learn that I don't have time for fiction.
If you've read this far it probably won't surprise you to know that I watch a LOT of documentaries. Forks Over Knives being one of my favourites. I have a Netflix subscription so I like to find new docs to put on while I do household chores like folding laundry. (I have access to Canadian AND US Netflix)
When it comes to fictional films I like comedies primarily. When it's my leisure time I just want to laugh :) Favourites include most older Adam Sandler movies.
My husband and I have a serious preference for British tv. We LOVE Shameless, Come Fly With Me, The Misfits, Coronation Street, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Black Books, IT Crowd and Top Gear.
For North American stuff we like Walking Dead, Arrested Development, Raising Hope, My Name Is Earl, Dexter and Sons of Anarchy.
Over all here is the things that make me happy: - reading materials - Boston Terriers (or similar flat faced dogs) - Vegan recipes - Spirituality without specific religious ties - Nature - Natural baby stuff - Netflix (recommendations...) - Minimalism - Magazines (Health & wellness - I subscribe to VegNews) - Cinnamon - Lavendar - Pinup Girls
I love crafting - but not for myself, if that makes sense. If it wasn't for Swap-bot I'd probably hardly ever make time for crafting. I like doing crafts for Swap-bot because it makes me adhere to timelines and I find a lot of inspiration... otherwise I would just sit at my desk staring at a blank page until I got sick of trying to think of something to make :P
For Swap-bot, I really enjoy making cards/postcards and bookmarks. I like using mixed media...bits of fancy paper, drawing, painting, stamping and of course a little stickering and glitter to finish it off :)
I like being given a theme or trying to pick one out of my partners' profile.
I big time HEART Michael's craft store!
Though I'm sure I could find anything sent to me a good home, there are some things I'm not too keen on. I've got a bit of a paranoia when it comes to cosmetics. I research everything I buy to avoid harsh chemicals. I never buy nail polish.
Along that same line, I'm sensitive to artificial scents.
I don't drink coffee. Usually I drink tea, but with being pregnant I decided to play it safe and avoid it for the time being.
