Hi!
Note: I'm on vacation and out of the country for June and July. I'm not in any swaps right now, but if I haven't rated you for a swap that has arrived while I was away, I apologize for the delay. I'll rate as soon as I can get back. I'm looking forward to opening everything you've sent!
I'm a 27-year old Canadian teaching English in South Korea. I'm married, and I have a funny little dog named Chang Me, and a chubby cat named William. I love animals (including most humans), crafting, and just walking around.
I am enticed by the idea of Artist Trading Cards, but can't see myself finding a use for so many bits of decorated paper in my life. What I would love to start is a movement of Artist Trading Brooches. Anyone familiar with Etsy knows that there are thousands of really cool brooches out there, made in a wonderful variety of styles and materials, and I think it would be really cool for those interested, to have a place to start swapping them! (Check out my Etsy Shop, or the Favourite Crafts section of this page for a little more information.)
I love most classic rock and roll from the 70's, as well as folk music from any time. I also love ska -- especially second wave, rockabilly, and some punk. Korean Pop has worked its way into my soul, and has even made room (where there was never room before) for other pop artists from North America and the UK.
Some artists on my iPod are: The Guess Who, Bob Dylan, Cat Power, Cheap Trick, The Cure, Die Fantastischen Vier, Great Lake Swimmers, John Denver, Le Tigre, Led Zeppelin, Mika, Of Montreal, Paul Simon, Sarah McLauchlan, The Slackers
Ah, books. I used to be an avid reader. I read anything I could get my hands on. Then I took a degree in English Language and Literature. For over a year after graduation, I couldn't bear to read anything more complicated than a travel magazine, but I'm finally back in the swing of things. Some of my favourite authors are: John Irving, Jane Austin, Neil Gaiman, David Suzuki, P.D. James, George Elliot, Robert Munsch, A.A. Milne
I like movies about adventure and friendship, and tend to prefer as little romance as possible, unless it's quirky and cute and honest. Some of my favourite movies are: Disney Robin Hood and The Sword in the Stone, Master and Commander, Finding Neverland, Bottle Rocket, Girl Interrupted, Shawn of the Dead, Anne of Green Gables, and the 6-part Pride and Prejudice (I didn't say I NEVER liked romance!)
30 Rock, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Sesame Street, Masterpiece Theatre, Arrested Development, The X-Files, Law and Order SVU
Ah, here we are. "About Me" might as well be called "Favourite Crafts," because if I had my way, I'd be making crafts, buying handmade, or scoping out craft supplies every waking (and non-eating) moment of my life.
These days, I'm very much into needle felting, but I also love nuno felting, wet felting, crochet, beading, making paper, stamping, cutting, gluing, woodwork (when I'm not in Korea), baking, cooking, and I'd REALLY love to take some sewing lessons, so I could do something more meaningful with a sewing machine too.
I love green and yellow. I love all animals (except sharks, tigers, and roosters -- they're too scary)! I love metal and wooden buttons (if they're rockin'). Hand-made buttons are even better! I love fabric scraps, especially with a fun print (as small as 10x10cm or 4x4inches is great). I love tea (but not fruity flavours). I love coffee! I love stationery: cute letter sets, pens (especially gel pens of any colour). I love stickers! I love stamped images for card making -- especially embellishment-types of images, or cute sentiments (because I never seem to buy stamps like that). I love handmade cards for regifting, and envelopes! I love everything handmade from felt!
The only colours I don't really love are orange and red. I don't really go in for knick-knacks, or stuffed animals. I'm not really a fan of Mickey or Tinkerbell or any Disney characters, really. I love flowers, but not necessarily floral prints. I'm also not a fan of Twilight. (sorry!)
Other than that, I'm wicked easy to please. :) I look forward to all of my packages!
Living in South Korea is really great in some ways, but there are also things I really miss. I know none of you can send my big fat tom cat William, but if anyone has any Hollendaise sauce mix, powdered tomato soup, or fat-free instant pudding mix (especially chocolate!) lurking in their pantries, I'd be happy times a million to receive them (even instead of regular swap items)! If they come in envelopes in boxes, feel free to ditch the box, and just write anything pertinent on the envelope to cut shipping fees. Peppermint Trident gum would also be chewed with relish! Thank you!!!!
