Description:

Business-size envelopes are so handy for when you want to mail a letter or card along with some "extras," and especially when you need to mail a letter that's written on 8 1/2" by 11" paper. What happens to me, though, when I use a business-size envie, is the mail artist in me needs to decorate the whole thing--which takes time, of course.

So I thought, "Wouldn't it be handy to have some cut-n-paste techniques developed for that size of envelope--not to mention some envies that are already made?" Hence, this swap...

If you join up with me, you're going to create 3 envelopes for 1 partner that are (1) business-size (approx. 9 1/2" x 4"), (2) collage-decorated over part or all of their surfaces, and (3) ready for mailing. Check your partner's profile for inspiration, but ultimately this is sender's choice. Feel free to add illustrative touches--markers, rubber stamps, whatever. You can leave the address areas on the front empty, incorporate them in the collage, or cover the whole thing--it's up to you.

Now, since this adds up to a fair amount of area, you'll be working in a looser, more open style than you do for a densely decorated ATC, for example. And the finished envies need to be flexible, in order to meet postal regs.

Above all, have fun! Remember a big point of this is to hone some techniques you can use in the future on your own business-size (or other larger) envies. Make more than three, even, so you can keep one or two for yourself!

I have one wee comment for my eventual partner: if you can, please don't make me envies as girly-girl as the one in the picture. That was the best picture I could find to illustrate the idea, but it's not exactly my style. =big laugh=

More comments/questions are encouraged, including polite requests for your partner or tips/techniques to suggest! I love comment threads under swaps...

These are so much fun to make! I'm addicted to them now. :)

Just a clarification: You don't have to literally make the envelopes. You can start with any pre-made envelopes you like-- plain white, tan, whatever.
