What's it like to be queer in your area? Pen Pals

What's it like to be queer in your city/town/village? Write a letter to your pen pal introducing yourself, then talk about what it's like to be queer or a queer ally in your area. Here are some ideas:

• What sort of queer community organizations or centers do you have? Describe them, give websites, send a flyer along.

• Do you have a traditional "gayborhood" or "gay ghetto" or is your city more integrated?

• Does your area have any interesting queer-related history?

• How's the nightclub scene?

• Do you go out much? Are you involved in local politics? How did you get involved?

• Are there any particularly good or bad laws or controversies about GLBTQIA people in your area? (i.e. gay marriage, domestic partnership, work or healthcare equality, etc.)

These are all just ideas, but feel free to talk about anything you want and to include any extras such as flyers, brochures, local magazines/newspapers/zines or articles, etc.
