Description:

Dear Lost and Found Regional Offices,

It has come to our attention that our organization has recently acquired a number of articles belonging to certain persons caught up in enchanted tales.

As reported by Regional Officers @lavenderlizard and @alexalgebra , such articles may include (but are not limited to):

  • items of clothing from a character's wardrobe
  • accessories suitable for a ballgown
  • a servant's apron
  • souvenirs from a giant's home
  • a piece of the witch's gingerbread house
  • other similar items.

These articles were sent to our offices around the world accompanied by a letter explaining the contents of the package and how it came to be in the finder's possession. It is your duty to now return the articles to their rightful owners with all due haste.

As you can imagine, their owners are most anxious to have their properties returned. I have already had numerous calls from many of the parties involved, and I won't even tell you the sort of language the 12th princess used to demand her missing slipper.

You will have one month to carefully pack and ship your package, so please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. It is our hope that you will give this matter the attention and care it deserves.

Best,

L & F Service Headquarters
Los Angeles, CA, United States

The fine print:

Fairy tale items and props are sender's choice, and may be handmade, vintage, thrifted, altered, or purchased, but must show creativity in how they're put together. There is no minimum size, dollar amount, or specification for materials, but all must be significantly related to a fairy tale character, well-made, and of good quality. To be clear, this swap should include items similar to those listed above (not just Cinderella-themed bookmarks, etc), so please plan to put some time and thought into making your item or seeking it out.

You will also include a letter to the owner/recipient/fairy tale character. This may either be a letter from the L & F office explaining what it is and how we came to acquire it, or from the actual finder, it's up to you. Feel free to be as imaginative or detailed as you'd like!

Please note: the deadline for this swap has been extended to the end of October.

All members in good standing may participate in this exchange. By joining this swap, you pledge to follow through with your commitment and to faithfully communicate with your partner if there is any delay. And please--be sure to rate your partner promptly upon receipt! This is a special package that deserves to be acknowledged.

If I had until the end of October I would feel better about joining, funds are tighter now which means I have to save a little longer to afford shipping, but mostly I have a lot of great ideas and each item I would spend a lot of time on, so a little extra time would be appreciated. I would love to do this swap, it's original and it is making me think of things I never would have before! Thank you.

Hello friends! Please be aware that we may be extending the deadline for the swap until October 30, which would give participants 12 extra days to complete the package.

As a courtesy, we're just waiting on one participant who has already signed up to make sure the new date works for her. The swap will be updated with the new deadline (and a comment left here) if this is a go.

New deadline: October 30th. More time to get your packages together. :)

Already have my item and I am really looking forward to this!

Hooray! I still haven't really decided what I'm doing for this one yet. Waiting for inspiration to strike. :D

Have had to drop from swap due to escapement of time & too many commitments - hopefully will be able to play in one of your future swaps, though. Sorry. :(

10:15 pm Looks like there is a glitch in the system, since there are 3 partners assigned instead of one. Admin has been notified, and I'll post a note here when the problem has been resolved.

thehappyhoneybee 09/17/2010 #

Problem is all fixed! Everyone now has one partner assigned. :)

Last minute clarification: should I be sending one item, or multiple? And if multiple, a letter for each, or will one letter explaining all suffice?

thehappyhoneybee 10/19/2010 #

Oh dear @Cassandramarie I just saw your post. You should send at least one item, but you may certainly send more than one if you please. If you are sending multiples, one letter should suffice!

Be sure to check out a couple of the lost and found letters that came out of this swap!
