Description:

This is the international version of the ATC Inspired by Your Username, as requested! Create an ATC based on, or inspired by your own Username!

Whether your username is a version of your real name, a reference to a hobby or a favorite character, or even a number, use it as the theme for this ATC.

Let's have fun with this swap! Your ATC can be a literal interpretation of your username (like CupcakeLover making an ATC featuring a cupcake surrounded by hearts, for example), or more abstract if you like. Include a note to your partner explaining the connection to your username, and tell your partner a little about how you chose the name. Be sure to include the swap and username on the back of the ATC!

You will have one partner, and will need to send one ATC. The ATC should be the standard size, backed with cardstock, or other heavy backing. Take some time to create an ATC you are proud of - don't just plop a sticker on and call it art!

Newbies are welcome with a filled out profile. Anyone else must have a 4.9 rating, and no recent no-sends. If you have late swaps, I'll have to ban you. I will check profiles. I will angel this swap or help you find an angel...but please let me know if it is needed. Please don't flake though, or I'll tell your mother!

happyrocketfingers 08/11/2010 #

wohoo! this is exciting!

lindyleel 08/12/2010 #

so only one partner after all?

Arabella 08/12/2010 #

Yes, only one ATC to only one partner!

theladylilac 08/12/2010 #

I SO cannot wait for tomorrow night!!!!

CraftyTweetie 08/13/2010 #

OH! What fun! I already have a pretty good idea as to what I'll do. My username really lends itself to this theme for an ATC. Thanks so much for thinking of it and hosting it.

Arabella 08/13/2010 #

Glad you joined!!

theladylilac 08/13/2010 #

I think I'm gunna make 2 ATCs >.<

Bloodykissesgirl 08/13/2010 #

I am really excited about this swap...it is my first one here! I have a question though; in the rules it states that the ATC has to be backed with heavy card stock, does that mean the ATC needs to be adhered to a piece of card stock or just supported in it's sleeve with a piece of card stock? Thank you!

Arabella 08/13/2010 #

Bloodykissesgirl, that just means that you need to use heavy cardstock, or some other thick paper (a playing card or baseball card for instance) as the foundation of your ATC, then you can glue, tape, and adhere your media on, or just paint right on it. This will make the card stronger, and more durable. ATCs made on flimsier papers have an unfortunate tendency to get roughed up a bit in the mail!

theladylilac 08/14/2010 #

I cannot wait for this!!!! I am anxious to be partnered ~teehee~

I am currently going to the store to get more supplies...for my second ATC in this category 0-0

I will pick one based on who I am partnered with, write up the letter then send it :D

Arabella 08/14/2010 #

Neat idea for another swap - ATC Based on Your Partner's Username!! Maybe you should start it!!

bionicrobyn 08/14/2010 #

love this idea...sparked my brain right away... the ATC blanks that they sell at the craft stores? there's a brand called strathmore? are those alright to be sent w/o a backing since they're already thick and substantial? or do we need an additional backing... just wondered... thanks for your help and organizing this:)

Arabella 08/14/2010 #

Yes, blank craft ATC's are fine! Anything that's as sturdy as heavy cardstock will work - just don't want anything to get torn or mushed in the mail. And you're welcome - I'm glad you're having fun with the swap!

Arabella 08/15/2010 #

Quick reminder! A lot of people who are new on swapbot are signed up for this swap, which is great! However, if you are new, and would like to participate in this swap, please take a few minutes to fill out your profile. I really want to avoid flakers in this swap, so only newbies with a filled out profile will be accepted. If you're not sure what to put in your profile, please feel free to take a look at mine, or at others on the site!

geochic 08/15/2010 #

Is standard size 2x3 or can it be a tad bigger??? I have a great idea for this one!

Arabella 08/15/2010 #

Oops, sorry. Artist Trading Cards must be 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches. This standard size thing is set in stone by the bosses of Artist Trading Cards. If we change the size, all he** breaks loose. Sorry.

institches 08/16/2010 #

What information should we put on the back of the card?

Arabella 08/17/2010 #

You need the name of the swap, date, your name and your username. If I use quotes on the front I list the author's name on the back.

happyrocketfingers 08/17/2010 #

just wondering, when are we getting paired? :D

Arabella 08/17/2010 #

Just rechecking a few profiles then partners will be assigned by swap-bot!

Arabella 08/17/2010 #

Partners are assigned!! Please be sure to send your ATC on or before the 30th! Remember to rate your partner when you receive your ATC from them. Any questions just message me. Thanks everyone!!

theladylilac 08/17/2010 #

I can't see my partner :(

theladylilac 08/17/2010 #

nevermind!!! haha didn't realise that when I already had a swap partner list up it reloaded this partner onto that screen ^-^

Arabella - I'd like to give a big THANK YOU for this swap. I have been interested in ATC's for a few years now, but didn't quite know how to start. This was just the inspiration I needed! I am very pleased on how my ATC turned out and hope my partner likes it too. Now I have so many ideas popping into my head that I've started a notebook of ideas! Thank you so much!!

Arabella 08/20/2010 #

So glad you joined, institches! What a neat username! Hope to see you on more atc swaps!

arianneroxa 08/20/2010 #

This is a great idea for a swap-- thanks for hosting. One quick question-- are we creating an ATC about our own user name or the user name of our partner? Example: if my partners name is SunflowerGirl, would I create an ATC showcasing sunflowers, or would I create one themed with my own name? Or could we choose? Thanks so much.

Arabella 08/20/2010 #

Hi arianneroxa! Thank you for joining! This swap is an atc you make based on your own username - the one you chose for yourself - so base it on arainneroxa and "include a note to your partner explaining the connection to your username, and tell your partner a little about how you chose the name." So you need to say why you chose arianneroxa for your swap-bot name! I'm sure there is a great story about it!

arianneroxa 08/21/2010 #

Perfect! Thank you :)

Arabella 08/30/2010 #
