Description:

I recently saw a quilt that was so adorable. It was a pinwheel quilt, and the quilter had traded Half Square Triangles to get enough blocks for her quilt! Of course my mind instantly thought-"What a Great Swap that would be!"

For this swap:

  • You will make 15 Half Square Triangles for your partners.
  • You will have Two (2) partners.

Yes, that makes 30 blocks total! But don't be intimidated! They're pretty easy!

The idea is: that you send Half of the Triangle to your partner and keep the other half-but if you choose to just send one half to each of your partners-that's up to you!

I know it sounds like a lot, but if you do the Chain Piecing Method they go really, really quick!!

  • You will begin with a Five (5) inch fabric square. After sewing your triangles, this will make them 4 1/2 inches. (A great way to use up some of those 5 inch charms you've been trading! )

  • After sewing, please make sure you press them nicely. Then, if they need to be trimmed to 4 1/2" inches, please do so. Also, please make sure you trim the "dog ears" as instructed in the below tutorial-(page 4). Also, if you have to trim, please make sure your seam is still in the middle of your block!

  • Make sure your colors are one light patterned or tonal fabric and one dark patterned or tonal fabric. Please no solids.

  • Make sure your fabric is 100% cotton quality fabric.

  • Please don't ask for color preferences, as this is a scrappy type quilt block swap.

  • Please make sure that you do not send duplicates of any of the squares. If you have paired a fabric with a different fabric, that is ok, but the goal is to get as many different ones as possible!

  • You may join even if you are new to quilting. These are relatively easy and great practice!

  • Since this isn't "profile specific" you can get started on them now!

Requirements

  • You must have a rating of at least 4.90 with no “1”s in the last 3 months.
  • You need to have at least 10 mailed/package swaps that you have been rated for.
  • If you don't meet the 10 package swaps requirements but are interested, pm me, I might be talked into a private swap with you! After all, we were all new once!
  • I will review each profile before partners are assigned, and reserve the right to remove anyone from the swap.
  • If there is a special circumstance as to your ratings, etc..pm me and we can discuss it!
  • Important: If you are a non-rater please do NOT join~ I will ban you if you are known for not rating! No one likes to put effort into a swap-only to not be rated or have to beg for a rating!!

  • Any questions-please ask as I've probably forgotten something!

If you don't want to use these for a Pinwheel quilt, here is a picture of several different variations they can be used for!

~If you find your squares a just a hair too small, try sewing a "scant 1/4" from the center.

Do we want to make sure that all the squares are not exact replicas? I have already made mine up blush and I ended up with a couple of the same fabrics in half of a couple of my squares. For example purple w/white polka dots got paired with white with blue flowers for one triangle and a bright yellow stripe. The squares aren't exact, b ut there are a couple fabric doubles. Is that ok? On the other hand, I just want to make sure I am not getting a 15 of the exact same thing with the same exact colors for each square. Am I making sense here? LOL

Yes, I did mean to put that in the description! Thanks for reminding me! I agree, it's ok if a fabric is paired with a "different" fabric, but no two identical ones!

I love this swap idea and already started on my blocks.
I'm just hoping the "#1" indicates that there will be more swaps like this in the near future. hint, hint

I was hoping so @LadyLoonie

I am in love with this design, and am hoping that my partners might be able to include some pink/white for my next Quilt for a Cure quilt. If you can, that's great. If you can't, that's fine too. Thanks!!

Hi - I'm brand new to Swap-bot and can't for the life of me figure out how to send a private message. When I click on "contact" it just pulls up my empty mailbox, but I don't have an option to create/send a new message. Can anyone help me?

Also, since I'm new to swapping, I don't have any swaps under my belt yet. I did sign up for a blog swap where I prepped and sent all my 100 siggy blocks, but never got any back, but I think the swap organizer got swamped and just missed me somehow. I'm not letting that dampen my eagerness to join future swaps - I just need to get accepted to some to establish my history and prove my reliablity.

Does anyone have any suggestions, as I would love to join in on this one if I could :)
