Description:

Time for round 9!

It's so much fun to sew with vintage linens. I love the idea of making something cool from "nothing", and I love that retro/shabby look. There are so many possibilities!! Here are a few links to get you inspired:

In this swap, you'll have 2 partners. You'll send each partner 2 FQ (fat quarter) sized pieces from vintage sheets. The two pieces should be different, but they don't need to coordinate. This means you'll send out a total of 4 pieces (2 pieces to each of your 2 partners). A fat quarter is approximately 18"x22" in size. You can include hems, but they should not count in the measurement for the FQ size. Please cut your pieces nicely and make sure they are AT LEAST the correct size.

The specifics:

  • You can use 100% cotton or cotton/poly blends, but no flannel, jersey, satin, silk, etc.

  • Please only send fabric that is in good condition. Some fading and wear is to be expected, but carefully inspect the pieces you send out to make sure there are no holes, stains or very worn spots that would make them unusable.

  • The color/print is wide open (except no solid colors!)! Please stick to the 50's-60's-70's era. Check out the links above for some great examples. Please do not send children's characters unless you clear it with your partners first.

  • You may suggest a color preference in the comments below, but this is only a suggestion and is not a requirement for the swap.

Participants:

  • This is international.

  • You must have at least a 4.8 rating, with at least a few snail-mail swaps and no unexplained 1s. I will allow newbies, if you PM me ahead of time and have a filled-out profile.

  • I will angel if needed, but I sure hope it won't be!

  • NOTE: If you are significantly late in sending, without communication to both me and your partners, you will be banned from any future swaps I host. I know, that's a pretty lame penalty, but it's all I've got! Having to follow up on people makes hosting less fun, and I want to keep hosting. So please, just send on time. Heck, save yourself some stress - send early!

New info - Just for fun, I'm going to randomly pick one swap participant and send them an extra package. Will it be you?? Are you feeling lucky? I'll pick a name just after I assign partners, and announce it here in the comments.

Partners are assigned, and the random number generator picked @sambob - yay! Thanks everyone for joining the swap. Have fun, send early, and be sure to sign up for the next round. :-)

And if you have any ideas for how the swap could be improved (more FQs? Different size? More frequently? USA only rounds?) let me know!

More frequently would be awesome! Also, I'd be interested in sending and receiving smaller pieces, too, to be used in patchwork and stuff. USA only rounds would definitely cut down on shipping costs for me, but I don't want it to be only USA all the time! :)

Thanks again for the drawing you have started doing! I won last round, and I love the package you sent me! :)
