My 2010 Writing Goals

As 2009 comes to a close, it's time to start thinking about what you'd like to accomplish as a writer in the coming year.

Maybe you want to revise the novel you wrote during NaNoWriMo or maybe you want to submit some short stories or poems to a contest or publisher. Is your goal to join a writers' group, find an agent, write a novel, take bigger risks in your writing, find a critique partner, or maybe all of the above? Whatever your goals happen to be, write them down and send them to two partners in a letter, a list, a contract or whatever works for you. Be sure to keep a copy for yourself. Post it where you'll see it.

Remember, SMART goals are the ones that are most likely to be achieved. SMART goals are:

Specific

Measurable

Attainable

Realistic

Timely
