Most of us made some pretty horrible art projects as children, that we typically gave to our parents as gifts. Many of our parents still proudly display our first scribbles and misshapen ashtrays.

The childhood crafts revisited series is about getting a second chance at the projects and examining the way we learned our artistic styles.

Remember the pencil holder you made from a tin can? It was either covered in Elmer's glue and string, wrapped in construction paper, or for the very creative...Shoe polish and masking tape to get that faux leather look.

Now that we're "grown ups", we can do better. Your task will be to create (1) one pencil holder from a tin can according to your partner's profile interests and send it to your (1) partner. Requirements:

  1. Your finished pencil holder shouldn't look like the one you made when you were a kid (take your time, and make something you'd be happy to recieve).

  2. Use a clean empty can as the base. If the can isn't clean, you haven't met the swap requirements.

  3. These should be profile specific.

  4. Newbies welcome with a filled out profile. If you aren't new please have a 4.8 rating or higher, and no "1" ratings or unexplained "3" ratings in the last 3 months.

Other thoughts (completely optional):

It could be fun to include any or all of the following with your pen holder:

A note about tin can pen/pencil holder memories.

Photos of your first tin can pen/pencil holder.

A note about how you made your tin can pen/pencil holder.

A photo of a tin can pen/pencil holder given to you by a young person in your life.

I would love to have something more creative than the old coffee cans I use for spare pencils at school! ANy size can would be fine. I teach music on the computer - so something along that theme would be great! I am in a middle school - so don't make it too childish!

I don't know how much better mine would look than the average second grader's! But I love this idea! Watching for now.

@MissU As long as you use a clean can, it stays together, we can't see glue everywhere, and it relates to your partner's profile, you're ok :)

@jj9jj nice to have you :)

I'm really sorry that it took me so long to assign the partners for this one. I had computer issues (In "latest news" on my profile). Thanks very much to the person who messaged me with the reminder!

I hope everyone who hasn't sent has e-mailed their partner! I apologize, because I don't think I left enough time for us on this project. T.T

(I know, I know, mine was late too. I e-mailed my partner!)

If you haven't heard from your partner, and they haven't clicked sent..PM them and me please?
