Hello swappers!

After seeing all the positive comments re making the LGBJ, I thought we might like to do another with a holiday theme.

We can follow THE SAME TUTORIAL or any other tutorial you choose, so long as it incorporates the actual book pages into the journal.

Re binding: you may bind your journal as shown in the tutorial OR, if you prefer, you may use a spiral binding, book rings, or any type of binding you choose.

Your journal should have either 2 larger signatures (10-14 pages each) or 3 smaller signatures (8-9 pages each). These are UNFOLDED page measurements; if you're counting flat pages, just halve those counts.

To answer one of the questions on the last swap, yes, you should add goodies/tucks/pockets throughout. There will be loads of time between sign-up and send, so you can create a book to delight your partner.

I'm going with a mail-by date of mid-November to make sure everyone gets the journal in time to use from December 1.

So glad everyone enjoyed making one of these Little Golden Book Journals, and hope to see you all in this swap!

Is there a required number of signatures/pages to use? Is it necessary to use a lot of lace trimming?

MissChief 08/18/2023 #

OMGoodness, I hope you share this with the last round of creatives! @isabellasnow

@mjhaertling I didn't use the lace on the cover, but I did glue down the golden strip I salvaged with a heat tool and a bit of ribbon too.

Martha, I edited the description to add that info--sorry I left it out!

MissChief, I didn't use the lace either and it's a GREAT idea to use the gold strip! I'll send out a notice to all members re this new swap.

I recently found several vintage Little Golden Books at my local Goodwill that are in great condition and they are all Christmas themed! I bought them with the intention of making them into journals so I am excited about this swap!!

The last round was a lot of fun. It would be so great to see pics of the journals created for these swaps. I'm always so curious what everyone else created. Thanks for hosting such great swaps, @Isabellasnow

There is another tutorial on how to make these journals. In this one she specifically shows how to preserve the gold strip that makes it a Golden Book. It is by Kathy at Attic Treasures, Etc. Or just search Little Golden Book Journals on YouTube and you’ll see hers that specifically says it preserves the gold strip in the title. She just demonstrates how to make the cover not the entire journal.
