Description:

It has come to my attention that it's hard to find certain things where I live that are readily available else where. In Japan they have Blueberry Kit Kats, I cant get that here. In Australia Kool Aid and Lawyer's seasoned salt is hard to find, in Europe they don't have Peeps and Hershey's are not popular, in Canada it's hard to get Nips. For this swap you will give your 1 partner something that is easy to get where you live but would be hard to find where they live. It can be Salt water Taffy if you live in Atlantic City or Mango Jam if you live in India. It does not even have to be food. Please read you partners profiles or comments and message them if you have any questions. It should be about a $5 minimum prior to shipping.

Must have 5 completed snail mail swaps.

No no-sends or 1 ratings in the last 6 months.

Ratings of 4.7 or better. If you are lower than that you must contact me direct and explain.

i would prefer to get a food iteam! please!

angelan 04/ 3/2009 #

I LOVE chocolate ;), but would be very happy with anything. Spicy things are my favorite!!!!

misnatalie 04/ 3/2009 #

I love anything sweet or spicy, just nothing fish flavored

Slamminissa 04/ 5/2009 #

im a newbie..could i join?

catz1ct 04/ 6/2009 #

I would love a food item but I don't really like nuts, licorice or coffee flavoured things.

knellershappycampers 04/ 6/2009 #

Lovely! I adore everything 'cept licorice and am allergic to coffee. To whomever my partner is... I'm in Michigan, USA. :-)

Moineau 04/ 7/2009 #

Just a few ideas of things I can't get here (in France): (From US/Canada): soy candles, maple butter, MC Cormick steak spices, Good Earth teas (From Asia): silk ribbons, fun stationery, bento box accessories (From other European countries): regional food items, traditional buttons/ribbons/fabric (From anywhere): sewing, knitting or embroidery magazine in your local laguage (even if I can't understand it, I can understand a lot from the pictures)

Please, no food items from Asia, I received tainted-milk candy last year in a swap and that completely freaked me out.

5trawberry 04/ 8/2009 #

I would love some Pocky in flavors other than chocolate & strawberry. It would also be neat to get some Pretz (pocky-like pretzels).

As far as non-food...non-english-language postcards, a comic book by a local artist...

But I'm sure I'll enjoy whatever!!! (except black licorice and things I'm allergic to)

My profile's really well filled out, but PM me if you have questions :) Thanks :).

Ferret 04/12/2009 #

This is such a cool swap! I'd love to get Yogi Tea, Chocolate flavoured biscuits, and any organic or environment friendly items.

tsireldi 04/17/2009 #

What if you get a partner from the same country? And how would you know what is or isn't available in another country?

cllfdl 04/17/2009 #

I am not sure what I cant get here (USA) its the only place I have ever been LOL we do not like te following: dark chocolate, anything with alcohol (even flavored) or tobacco.

that's a good question about if we get someone living in our county. is there a way to partner u up to make sure that doesnt happen? right now I am in a swap "taste my country" and my parnter lives in the next state,

Lixie 04/19/2009 #

Sweets for me! And choc. No nuts or licorice. If you are in australia I love cherry ripe. There is one source for them in the UK but they cost 4x a normal bar and so are real treats! More on my profile.

Tatsu 04/20/2009 #

If you get someone form your same country, or even states, why not send them something local? Maybe there is a cookie shop, or an arts and crafts store that is only available in your area.

mystic69 04/20/2009 #

If you get me, let me know and I'll let you know what I might want from your area. I live right outside of Philadelphia, PA so if I have you, let me know what you might like from here! :) (Of course a cheesesteak may be a little bit of a problem...LOL)

StaceyRme 04/23/2009 #

I live about 2 hours from NY.. so I can't really think of what I can't get here. :(

ladybree 04/23/2009 #

I know there are a lot of items available to me in Canada that aren't available in the US such as, Kinder surprise eggs, Tim Tams, Coffee Crisp, Big Turk, Smarties, Purdy's Chocolates, Old Dutch potato chips, Skor bars, ketchup chips, etc etc. When partners are assigned you can try doing a google search of products of where your partner lives.

Duckygirl 04/24/2009 #

We can get ketchup chips in the usa( at least here in Ma ). but i cant get wonder bars! and i love them! there soooo good!

Duckygirl 04/24/2009 #

and we can also get smarties here too ( at least we can in Ma)

TheCraftyLibrarian 04/25/2009 #

I love everything except for licorice! I do enjoy trying snack foods (savoury or sweet) from other countries. This seems like a super fun swap :o)

sugarashley 04/25/2009 #

yay, this swap looks SUPER fun! I would love some homemade fudge, tim tam (not the regular ones), cherry ripe, kool aid, peeps, maple candy or any other chocolates.. except licorice of course. =p i also cooking and baking very often! so any interesting seasonings or ingredients would be great too!! =) The 1 thing i can't get here in Singapore is bubble gum actually...

sugarashley 04/25/2009 #

gosh! i meant to say 'cook' and 'bake' in my comment.. lol =)

daniellemariexoxo 04/26/2009 #

since when can you not get nips in canada? =S they're at every convenience and grocery store I've ever been too lol, and I've lived all over canada...

also you can get ketchup chips some places in the states...

that's why this one is tough, you can't be 100% sure unless you've been there what is and isn't available.

ladybree 04/26/2009 #

I've never seen Nips here on the west coast (of Canada), maybe that's why I like them so much.

The Smarties I'm talking about are these.

priscillabrunson 04/27/2009 #

I live close to the border so if anyone likes Mexican items and you are my partner feel free to ask and I will try to find it. As for me I can't get Korean/Japanese products or items here. i can get kinder ... I love Korean candy because that's all I've had especially the melon hard candy. I don't like black licorice and pretzels.

Tatsu 04/28/2009 #

I'd love mochi, marshmallow peeps, saltwater taffy, I'd loe to try the ketchup chips, but they'll probably be crushed by the time they arrive. I'm open to anything that can't be bought at most U.S. supermarkets (like oreo, nips, snickers, etc.). Please read my profile if you're stuck or feel free to message me.

kiwi2140nz 04/28/2009 #

I can't get flavoured ground coffee or flavoured whole coffee beans. I also can't get Diddl, Snoopy or Hello Kitty stationery in New Zealand. Any other store bought chocolate or candy will also be appreciated. Don't send homemade food or meat, raw seeds to NZ they will be confiscated. Thanks.

synchrodoll 04/29/2009 #

Whoever has to send to me, I'd prefer to get food items, thanks! Whoever receives from me, I'll check out your profile / comment on this swap, or we can pm and figure out what would be best to send from Germany. :o)

glemmegei 04/30/2009 #

Whoever my partner will be, kindly message me to check before sending. Thanks (:

whiterose 04/30/2009 #

I would love something food mix, seasoning or spice.....Thanks!

darlingfluff 04/30/2009 #

This is a great idea for a swap! I've been all over the US and to many other countries and there are always food items that are peculiar to each region. I can think of several things right here in my state that aren't available in other parts of the country. I'm looking forward to the swap.

The only restriction I have is meat, I can't eat it. I like sweets and spicy things!

Anniehall 04/30/2009 #

Hi, I'm very exited about this swap. I love chocolate and snack so you can surprised me. We cannot find salty snacks here, something very traditional (and yummy) from your country would be great, also you can write me a pm and I will be there for you.

stacirose 04/30/2009 #

I live in San Francisco. There's Japantown, Chinatown, Russian Bakeries, Jewish/Kosher shops, Cadbury's all over the place - and Ghiradelli's, native to San Francisco.

I hope my partners will message me and we can chat about what we like from where we are living! :D

Anniehall 04/30/2009 #

oh, I forgot to say that I don't like liquorice flavor.

stacirose: russian bakeries and jewish/kosher things sounds very interesting and yummy :), your partner will be so lucky.

twobluecrows 04/30/2009 #

ladybree--are your Smarties like M&Ms? Are they chocolate in the center, or some other candy center? Our smarties are these I hope this image works!

patriciac 04/30/2009 #

Im from Portugal and we dont have many things here from other countries, specially out of europe, so i guess that would be easy ;o)

patriciac 04/30/2009 #

I have those smarties that ladybree is talking about :D

ladybree 04/30/2009 #

yes, twobluecrows, the Smarties in Canada are like M&M's. We do have "smarties" like the ones in your photo, but they are called Rockets.

ILoVeCoWs 04/30/2009 #

Anything is fine foe me check out my profile for my allergies.

scrapkween 04/30/2009 #

I would prefer non food items, Thanks!!!! I will message you when i find out who you are :-)

kimberlym322 04/30/2009 #

I would be happy with anything...check my profile for allergies. I dont have alot but i do have some.

mmilesesq 04/30/2009 #

Please don't send anything which could melt - it's already quite hot here. I'd prefer some little interesting item from your local crafters or craft store -- local paper, ribbon, trims are fantastic. If I get a U.K. partner, I'd love any small thing to do with Cecily Baker's Flower Fairies. I know postage can be high, so something paper in an envelope would make my day.

marijke 05/ 1/2009 #

Most of the things you all named, I don't know (except for m&m's, don't send these..). No chips. And please, surprise me with something you really like yourself!

marijke 05/ 1/2009 #

Oh yes and it can be food or non-food ...

Hollyvia 05/ 1/2009 #

What a great swap !! there are so much stuff we can't get here !! LOL when I used to live in the UK, there were so much stuff like chocolates and teas that I actually reaise after a while when i got back to France that we didn't have here, like simple teas from sainsburry's or Tesco and biscuits and candies and more and more... LOL I really don't care what I get or from where it's from, food or non-food is OK !! If you're my partner and want something special from France or Luxembourg where I live now (we do have lots of chocolate from Belgium and candies/sweets from Germany here), just PM me, ok?!! xxx

VampiraGirl 05/ 1/2009 #

I want to join but I'm afraid that I might not know what my swap partner can't get a hold of. Would it be alright if we can contact them to ask questions before sending the item?

Upcountrysmiles 05/ 1/2009 #

Aloha! I'm from Hawaii!! No TRADER JOE'S here:) Please do check my profile too:) Mahalo!

jljorna 05/ 1/2009 #

I would love any American candy. I'm in Australia, so you have tonnes of things to choose from!! :)

twobluecrows 05/ 1/2009 #

To the partner sending to me, for this swap's purposes--I live in northeastern CT which is within an hour's drive of Boston, Providence, Hartford, Worcester, MA, and a couple of hours drive from NY--and I'm going to Virginia next week--so I really have fairly easy access to a lot of American and/or multinational items, so something really local to you would be interesting--not necessarily food--I'm not a fan of spicy things, and need to watch what I eat these days, but local postcards, photos, craft items, etc would be cool! I have been dying for some cookies I found in Wales in 1989--don't know if they even make them anymore--but they were in a 6-8"cylindrical package, and had a sort of caramelized/burnt-sugar tasting sandwich cookie with a cream filling. Crispy and oh, so tasty! If you're in the UK you may know what they are/were. I've looked on a lot of British food websites and nothing rings a bell. Ginger Nuts are close, but not the ginger part.

To my partner I send to--I can get just about anything with a little lead time. Boston has the most amazing number of diverse shops from all over the world--as well as the US/New England/Massachusetts specialties. Living in CT, I can't think for the life of me what something truly CT would be--LOL

kim91262 05/ 1/2009 #

you new englanders have WHOOPIE PIES...(and yes, i know other place have them, but not like they make 'em 'downeast')!

enchantability 05/ 2/2009 #

If I get someone from uk, I have wanted to try battenburg cake for a long time! Otherwise, I am open to trying anything!! I don't mind being contacted if my partner has questions.

eadaoin 05/ 2/2009 #

I would love some instant iced tea. Preferably Crystal Ice - lemon or peach flavour. Thanks :)

reauk 05/ 5/2009 #
