Description: | |
For this swap we will be crafting a miniature file folder, and decorating the front so that it can be used as a special keepsakes/penpal letter storage spot. The size should be between a paperback novel and a5, or roughly the size of a large postcard or project life card. I love to make these from blank notecard bases (the type you get in packs with envelopes - fun to do matching mail art on these!) by simply cutting out the tab section and rounding the corners. You might prefer to cut down a real manila folder, or even buy miniature folders pre made and just collage the front. I also love to add in 2-4 accordion pouch sections to the back, but not attaching them to the front flap so it can still be laid open flat. This is all optional, but do make sure you include enough elements to make the folder an obvious place for those special keepsakes and letters from dear friends. Decoration and theme is sender's choice, but consider the styles and colours your partner does and does not like. Add a letter of at least 1 a4 sheet or equivalent, and a minimum of 4 types of tuck in. Think of how much of each item you would like to receive in a type 3, 2-3 stamp swap. These could include teas, washi samples, sticker sheets or flakes, ribbon, ephemera, stamped images, crafting papers, notecards with envelopes, used stamps, dried botanicals, paper clips, drawer sheets, ATCs, journal cards, etc. Mail art on the envelope is expected for this swap, so try to add some collage or decoration that will get your partner excited for the mini file folder inside! And remember!
