This is next in a series of matchbox swaps I'm gonna be hosting so keep your eyes peeled for the next one! All you have to do is cover a small matchbox (32ct) with something green, could be fabric, pretty paper also they can be painted or embellished in any way you like and fill it with all green things. You could put in buttons, brads, small stickers, anything that will fit!

Matchboxes don't weigh too much so this swap is international.

Newbies are welcome, but please fill out your profile with likes and dislikes and not just a few lines! I will ban people who seem fishy!

Everybody else is welcome but I will checking all profiles before I assign partners! People above 4.85.

Please contact me if you have any questions about this swap or leave a comment.

Enjoy!!!!

You should mention that you CAN do more than just cover them--embellishing, collaging, painting, etc. are allowed too (I would hope anyway).

AnnMarie 03/ 7/2009 #

Oooh thank you for that!

jacksbluejane 03/ 8/2009 #

My matchbox is done!!! I've been looking at everything green trying to think if it would fit.... new obsession? I think so!!! We should have a matchbox drawers swap next!

AnnMarie 03/ 9/2009 #

I like matchbox drawers but I cant ever work out how to make them! I made some and they were awful, if any one has tips let me know!

Is it okay if some of the little items have other colors on them, but the majority of it is green?

AnnMarie 03/11/2009 #

Yeah that is fine!

I just discovered swap bot this morning, completely by accident. I have been thinking about traveling journals and ATCs for about two years so I was happy to find this. I am excited to be a part of it.

I am a newbie, this will be my first swap, hope that is ok. I'm looking forward to participating in this one. I've been looking at the matchbox swaps for some time now. Green is also my favorite color!

Omomama 03/19/2009 #

I've never do the matchbox swap before. Please let me know if the template on this website is OK (cuz i'll make the box form it.)

Hey this will be cool! This will be my very first matchbox swap, what kinds of things are best to include in the box or what kinds of things does everyone like to recieve in thier boxes? Can't wait to get started.

milkybunny 03/21/2009 #

I'm new as well, but really looking forward to this. I already have ideas. <3

KatarinaNavane 03/21/2009 #

ideas of things to put in boxes: beads buttons (both the kind you sew on and pinback buttons) stickers brads charms punched papers/confetti/spangles small jewelry cute erasers small candies rhinestones inchies (these are similar to ATCs but smaller, one inch by one inch square works of art) mini ATCs (usually defined as "the size that fits in a matchbox" lol) postage stamps

um...that's all I can think of right now Really you can put in anything amusing that will fit--going through "party favors" sections of stores might be a good idea, seems like it'd be a good place to find small but amusing things.

Hi, this will be my first matchbox swap and can't wait to get started.

twobluecrows 03/22/2009 #

Omomama, just make sure you use really heavy cardstock if you are making your matchboxes. I got a set of matchbox drawers once made of paper and it was completely crushed in the mail. The boxes must be sturdy!

Mux 03/22/2009 #

Is there a particular monetary amount we should spend on the items?

KatarinaNavane 03/23/2009 #

I'm not the host, so i can't speak for sure, but I think that if you have a decent stash of random crafty items (and just random things) there is no reason you should have to spend any money at all on filling your matchbox. I'd say rather than worrying about price the best way to make it a good one would be to make sure it's absolutely stuffed with goodies!

buddhafly 03/23/2009 #

hey, i love matchboxes i've already done two, one was voluntary (not required of the swap). I'm excited, but i'd really love and international partner, both ways. I want to see what fun stuff you can fit in a matchbox from across the ocean!

buddhafly 03/23/2009 #

whats a matchbox drawer?

maysparkles 03/23/2009 #

Just about finished mine! This one was alot of fun :-)

Mux 03/23/2009 #

Thanks, KatarinaNavane! I found plenty of items in my stash (after I posted my comment), but I'm still planning on buying a few stickers and such. I think it would be neat to have an international partner too, buddhafly!

gramsbuttonbox 03/24/2009 #

the "drawer" is the slide-out inside of the matchbox - and to add the note about "heavy" paper - I've also tried regular card stock, but that's even a little bit fragile - but definitely better than just plain paper.

If you want to see some ideas of decorating, check out flickr.com, and just do a search for matchboxes - you'll see TONS of them -

this is my 7th MB swap, and they just keep getting "funner and funner" - LOVE the idea of cruising the party favor isles - I wrote that one down! haha

mystic69 03/24/2009 #

Hi - I keep seeing these "matchbox" swaps (I don't think I could actually "make" a matchbox) - where is the best place to get matchboxes??

Thanks!

cbjenks 03/24/2009 #

I was going to Wal-Mart to get them, but I ran into Dollar Tree the other day and they had them in a set of 10 or 12 (can't remember).

KatarinaNavane 03/25/2009 #

I found 'em at kroger

kawaiilala 03/25/2009 #

Yay greeeeeen! So signing up ;D I have noticed that you have hosted every swap I have been in, ROFL!

Hello i have no internet at home at the moment the stupid modem broke. I can login on my mobile but cant really check through every body's profile so i can assign partners. I'm hoping the new modem will be here today. My sister can check any messages and reply to them but only like once or twice a day. Sorry about all this.
