Description:

This swap is in celebration of Mothers Day. I am not sure about you, but my friends and I often discuss how we are not and will never be like our mothers. And yet, somehow we find ourselves doing or saying things that are very much like our mothers.

For this swap, we will each write and send two letters (may be typed and printed on the computer if you don't want to write two separate letters) highlighting how you may be (act, behave, look like, etc) like your mother.

This "mother" may be your adoptive mother, birth-mother, aunt, best-friends mother or any other woman who has impressed upon you some motherly qualities. This swap is not limited to women, as men may also wish to highlight their motherly qualities and honor those woman who made impressions upon them.

With talk about mothers, many emotions may surface, not all of which may be the most pleasant. Please remember to keep your letters lighthearted as well as heartfelt.
Some ideas to include in your envelope may be: a picture of your mother, a favorite saying of theirs or a copy of their favorite song, joke or recipe.

This is an international swap.

A minimum rating of 4 is required for this swap. Newbies email me if you are interested in participating, those with a competed profile will be accepted.

How timely! I wrote a little about this on my blog a few days ago and it got the thoughts going. Now here's an outlet to write a bit more and think more deeply. blog is www.calenderpages.blogspot.com/

CalendarGirl, your letter arrived on Tuesday, and I LOVED IT! You made me laugh, and I could so relate to some of the things you said. Thank you for the special touch of including pictures of your mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter and granddaughter! Like you said, what a perspective...that you've lived long enough to notice the similarities in your ancesters (mother, grandmother, etc.) and in your descendents (daughter, granddaughter)! Gosh, I hope that doesn't make you feel OLD! I didn't mean it that way! :-/ But you know what I mean. I certainly can't say I know enough about my grandmother to see what similarities I may have received nor to say I see too much of myself in my very young daughters yet...well, I take that back... I DO see myself in my daughters already. The not so nice parts! :-O

Thank you for the wonderful letter! May I share your letter with my mother? I was talking with her on the phone yesterday and telling her what a lovely letter I received for the swap. She's interested in reading it, and certainly in reading mine about her to my partners!

Thank you!

Thank you, pickle, for the lovely letter about the similarities between you and your mom. I loved reading the letter very much and also the stationery you used. Thank you so much!

KarlaC -- of course you can share the letter with your mom -- or anyone. I'm a writer by profession, I mean for my stuff to be read and the more the better. I'm so glad you liked it; I'm thinking of turning it into an article for next Mother's day.
