Information about the Unread Shelf Project can be found here and the monthly challenge list can be found HERE

The suggested book for January is: any unread book

So, pick up any book you have on hand - or any book you have been wanting to read that's available at your library - including ebooks and audio books - and read it before the end of the month. Or, if you start it and think - ick! Why did I want to read this book?! and decided to DNF (do not finish) that's ok too. The idea is to clear out the 'dead wood' taking up space on the shelf or list, find books you really enjoy and stories you love.

EDIT 1-14: Someone asked if you had to wait for partners to be assigned before you started your book - no you don't! :) You can start it at any time! And since this month's category is pretty open, if you have a book you started from your list that you started before this swap posted, it counts! The idea is just to move books, find what you enjoy and what you don't want sitting around anymore. :)**

After sign up ends and your partners are assigned, just send them an email (you can send the same email to all 3 partners, just be sure to use BCC to send the emails) with the book title and author and then just a few lines about

if you liked the book or not,

if you couldn't finish it, why did you decide not to finish it?

That's it! You don't have to write a book report or review - unless you want to. This swap and the series and the group is more about helping and supporting everyone to tackle the TBR lists than book reviews and recommendations.

Monthly challenges for the year will be:

January - any unread book

February - a book gifted to you

March - the book thatโ€™s been on your unread shelf the longest

April - the book you most recently acquired

May - a backlist title (by an author with a newer book out)

June - a book from a series

July - a book voted for you by Bookstagram (or other bookish community)

August - a buddy read

September - a book youโ€™ve owned so long, you forgot where it came from

October - a book that scares you - in content or length

November - a book from your favorite genre

December - the shortest book on your shelf

This list of categories was generated by The Unread Shelf. If something doesn't fit, that's ok. You don't have to join that month's swap. This is just for fun and to help us all tackle our TBR's, find books we all enjoy reading and tame the stacks and lists that we all have.

If you have any questions Please PM me with your questions and I'll reply just as soon as I can.

I'm sharing the category list with you ahead of time, so you can plan. If you finish your January book and want to move onto your February choice, that's fine! It's not a contest and there aren't rules, you won't be graded down. I'm just using this is as a helpful tool to keep my books and shelves in check! And sharing with those of you who wish to do the same. :) Sometimes, if feels SO GOOD to have just that in control - my books - that I read more and enjoy the books more. I guess it's my 'happy moment'. :) Hopefully it is yours too. :)
