Description:

So for this swap I've decided to combine several of my current favorite things...Halloween, art journals, and altered playing cards. This is a relatively easy and definitely fun swap, but has a very long and detailed description, so PLEASE read through all the particulars before signing up!

If you've never made an altered playing card, this blog is AmAzInG in its instruction and examples, or you can simply google the term and you'll find loads of inspiration, and alternative instruction. There are also loads of videos on YouTube. Basically they are "kissing cousins" to ATC's in that you decorate them in the same fashion. Some people like to leave one corner bare, or partially bare so that you can see the card value and suit showing, but we will leave that optional for this particular swap. Also often seen are APC's with the backs left plain. For this swap we will be decorating BOTH sides.

For the art journal aspect of this, we will be creating 8 APC's with at least 1 pocket I to which you tuck a tag or goodie, and at least 1 moving part, and then attaching them by using a binder ring, or ribbon on one corner, or on the side. You may also opt to use 2 rings, or ribbons to make them more "book like" Ther is no need to leave a place to write...this is not that type of journal. Rather it is a completed journal of your ART. If you'd like to see some examples of completed APC journals Here is an example of one bound twice... And here is an example of one bound by a single closure.

What do I mean by a "moving part?" Well, it can be pretty much anything...I'm currently working on an APC journal in which I've added an acetate image by a single brad, and the image swings back and forth. It also has a "door" that I've created by attaching the image to the page by a paper hinge. When you open the "door" behind it I've hidden a small pocket of goodies. It can be a shaker box, a blossom envelope, anything you can think of!

Please put your best time and effort into what you create. APC's are a lot of fun to create, and I hope if you are new to these you'll love them as much as I do! You can make these as heavily decorated as you'd like, or more simple, but please send something you'd be thrilled to receive...in other words make it SQUEAL worthy, lol!

Particulars: 8 playing cards, decorated front and back, adhered together, with at least one pocket into which you've inserted a tag or goodie and one moving part in a Halloween theme.

If you've got any questions at all please shoot me a pm and I'll do my best to answer them! Thanks, and can't wait to see what spooky delights are created!

Just to clarify... Only ONE pocket and ONE moving/interactive part is required per book...not per page.

I am totally intrigued by this. I've done APCs but not APC journals. If I can figure out timing I'll be all in!

I hope that you will run this again soon! We are moving smack in the middle of this swap and I desperately want to join but know it will be rushed... not fair to anyone! APC's are something that are new to me and I'm ready to unpack my art supplies right now!! I still have a week to go!

I just posted a steampunk APC journal on my flikckr page that I finished last night with lots of examples of interactive and pocket pages if you wanna check it out!

Hopefully that will take you to the right spot, lol!!
