Description:

Sometimes workplaces will give you a perk for working there. For example, I work in a tea house and I get to take home 1oz of loose tea every week.

At this point I have more tea than I know what to do with, so I thought this would be a great way to swap it with someone else's work perk.

For example: Maybe you work in a dental office and get toothbrush or floss samples. Maybe you work in a coffee shop and get to bring home coffee. Perhaps you get to take a few pieces of candy per shift at your candy store. Maybe you get to keep defective but still useful merchandise like crooked printing on a t-shirt. The possibilities are endless. Whichever the case may be for you and your place of work, let's swap!

Please list your type of work below (without giving away the surprise of your perk). It could be fun to try to guess what item our partner is going to send us based on their occupation.

Requirements: -You'll send your partner at least 1 item from your workplace that you received as a perk. -You'll also send a note card talking about the item or about anything really.

Please note that this is NOT a place to swap things that you have stolen. Please do not head into work and steal a bunch of pens or paperclips or something. This is a swap for legitimate perks you receive through the workplace.

Tea house manager

Craft/yarn/DIY store employee. This sounds like a fun swap :)

picupurcross 04/24/2015 #

What an interesting idea for a swap! Sadly, I can't participate... I drive a school bus for a living and they don't let us take home any of the "merchandise"! LOL! But have fun, everyone! :)

ImWenders 04/24/2015 #

picupurcross I'm cracking up at your response. I too have to pass as I manage a chiropractic office and have no perks other than a great feeling back. Love the idea of the swap though!

GuinnessValley 04/24/2015 #

I'm laughing so hard!!

leeleetru678 04/24/2015 #

being a SAHM is a full time job(never ending) i wish there was something I could send out lol

RETIREDARTGAL 04/24/2015 #

Great swap idea, but I have been retired 6 years now and have nothing left!

Artsynerdgirl 04/25/2015 #

Art teacher. :) I'm already trying to plan!

tigerlily2110 04/25/2015 #

Great idea, but I'm retired, and anything I had from work was removed by me, not given.

Manage the office for a construction company. Anyone want a brick???

GuinnessValley 04/25/2015 #

Actually.... I sometimes paint bricks to decorate my garden as plant markers :)

I work for a Dentist but just got rid of toothpaste and toothbrushes. I donated them to our church and to a shelter for women of domestic abuse. I do wish however that I was near ImWenders, maybe I could trade an adjustment for a filling, and cleaning? I hurt my back last week and the Chiropractor couldn't believe I could still walk. The pain is OUCH! LOL!

I used to work for a world famous amusement park in central Florida. I've got so much swag in a box, it would choke a horse.....

Ikran3 04/27/2015 #

Haha I work as a psychotherapist....I get to take home other people's problems...want some?!

GuinnessValley 04/29/2015 #

hahaha have enough here! :D

ChrisAnne 05/ 1/2015 #

I would love to participate. I work as a house parent in a residential foster home. We take care of 8 of other people's children. And no, the perk I would share would not be a child! But there are some interesting perks to send. I'm just not sure I can send overseas. Although, if I get to partner with @paraxparaxnoia I would be in heaven as an avid crafter/diy'er!

paraxparaxnoia 05/ 1/2015 #

We have semi-regular cleaning days and afterwards we vet to share the odd bits so I have a bag full of this and that @ChrisAnne please take it XD

ChrisAnne 05/ 2/2015 #

@leeleetru SAHM is more than a full time job. Since most only work 8 hours a day, it is three jobs. We work 18-22 days 24 hours a day and then are off for 5-7 days, but you don't ever get time off.

RooBaRoo 05/ 3/2015 #

WHAT A FUN DISCUSSION HERE! AGAIN unfortunately I am a insurance claims processing official. :( I hope you (participants) have a great fun swap! Double thumbs up!

paraxparaxnoia 05/ 4/2015 #

So sorry I have to drop :(

ChrisAnne 05/ 4/2015 #

@RooBaRoo you probably have plenty of pens, note pads, calenders and magnets with the insurance company name on them. Who can't use more of those????

ChrisAnne 05/ 5/2015 #

I decided to go for it even though this is international. I don't normally do international as postage is so outrageous, but this just seems like too much fun. I would love to see a USA only version or US/Canada.

CariPeace 05/ 5/2015 #

Hmmm, I had worked at a fine jewelry store. {I can visualize most ladies perking up right now.} I did receive some perks, but most of the many items I've added to my collection, I paid for usually at only a slight discount. I do have a few pieces that were bonuses or perks. ~ I currently work as an Aromatherapist, among many other labels. :-)

GuinnessValley 05/ 7/2015 #

i have created a USA only version as well- please anyone feel free to sign up, just as ChrisAnne was saying things like magnets, pens, whatever you get to keep from work without getting into trouble or fired lol is great!

Ndnaphrodite 05/ 7/2015 #

I work in hospitality and you will be surprised at the things they have given us over the years..... But hoping and crossing my fingers to get partnered with Arts on Fire. Love all the Florida parks 😊

CariPeace 05/ 8/2015 #

Just for the record, in case people wonder after reading my profile about being laid off from that jewelry job, I take a stand for integrity and don't believe in stealing (unless there is a zombie apocalypse). :-) ~ If you would like to know the real reason I am now convinced that I was laid off under false pretenses, feel free to message me.
