If this swap is popular, I will do it again next month, with a new genre. This month (February), however, the genre is fantasy. Find a fantasy novel that you love (or just find one you are willing to read), and use it as your inspiration to create an ATC illustrating a passage in the book. For example, if you choose Watership Down, you could do an ATC of when their warrens are gassed, or of the rabbits meeting a skunk, or of the farm. If you choose Alice in Wonderland, you can illustrate Alice shrinking, or the white rabbit running late, or the walrus and the snail. Please try to be original and not just copy an illustration that is already in your book. Please make your ATC standard size and composition (i.e, 2.5 x 3.5 inches and on a rigid card). Please put your ATC in some sort of protective envelope or sleeve. Other than that, do what you want. Any medium is acceptable. Mail your ATC to your partner with a short note telling your partner which book and what passage you are illustrating. Feel free to elaborate further (i.e, why you love the book, when you first read it, etc) or not, but please at least do the bare minimum and tell your partner what they are looking at! :) Since this might require you actually reading the book, I am giving you a full month from the time of this posting. You don't have to have a partner to start reading. ;) I will angel if you are flaked on, or if anyone wants to volunteer to angel, that is cool, as well. Recipients, I myself am not a great artist and also don't want to freak anyone out of joining, so please rate a 5 if it looks like the person put some effort into the card and if you get it in a timely fashion, even if the attempt looks amateurish (as mine will). I am setting minimum rating at 4.95 with three rated Type 3 swaps under your belt. I reserve the right to remove anyone I consider risky. (Graphic used is from http://illustratorsfa.blogspot.com/p/beatrix-potter.html. I attempted to find free artwork for this one, since I don't have one of my own to photograph, so hope I'm not violating someone's copyright!) |
