Description:

I have these ideas in my head. And I end up not doing them because of ... to little time .. too little motivation ... putting things off ... you know what I mean.

Let's motivate each other!!

1st step Each participant will write in the comment section 1 art project (big or small) s/he would like to do, always wanted to try. Maybe some want to try the same thing and can help each other out, share some inspiration. If you cannot decide on one, then either make up your mind before sign up deadline or ask around. I will drop users who have not set their art goal prior to assigning partners

2nd step You will finish this art project and then take a picture of it. Either scan it (if possible) or take a good picture with your camera. But please pay attention that you can see it well, maybe take two or three with detail shots?

This is about your art and your motivation so obviously you can do whatever you like.

3rd step Then, after finishing, send your partner a picture via email. (This is then for rating)

I encourage all participants to comment and criticise, as this is never meant to be personal, but to give us another point of view on our art. It is so easy to get lost in detail and forget the overall picture.

I am offering: I have a tumblr account, and if you send your pictures to me, I will open a tumblr page for this kind of art and put it all on this (including your username/real name/homepage/blog or whatever information you would like the world to know; anonynominous is fine, too). If this finds interest I will do it regularly and all art can be seen then. I haven't set it up yet, as I will if people want to do that. My email is alisa@sakubik.com.

Since this includes no sending/receiving physical mail, I will allow all users, but yet reserve the right to ban if you seem to bail on this project.

I had the idea for this swap, because I find it easier to motivate myself to do more of what I always put up till another time if others join me in a "deadline".

Examples of projects:

  • Make a picture in a particular style (maybe a new one??)

  • Let's say you like to draw and always wanted a to start/finish a series, then you could say: "I will draw 3 pictures in this style to add to this series"

  • Design a set of ... Christmas Holiday Cards

  • Learn a new technique and in this case show us your examples, steps and improvement

  • You could say "I want to sketch something every day" and then show us all your amazing artwork

  • Maybe your crafts are a little bigger, like a new piece of furniture?

I hope you now know what I mean.

Hope some will join, and please, ANY craft is welcome.

So my DMA Project for November (Do More Art) will be:

I want to make a series of steampunk characters. I know this has been done before (e. G. With Disney Princesses, superheros) but I want to make my own and in my own style.

I will not decide on which characters I want to get started with, but I'd say I want to manage to get done 2 until the deadline.

Might not be much, but I want to do it REALLY good and also right so I need to research some styles :)

Not sure whether I should go with traditional media or digital, or maybe mixed?

For November Could do that doll ( not a Dotee, even if I love them) I always wanted to try to realize. Could be small but should have arms and legs made out of fabric. I don't have a style in mind. GREAT IDEA OF SWAP!!

This year I haven't created much art at all. My spare time has been devoted to other things (mainly gardening and reading) and I have this creative block I can't seem to get past (or maybe I am just not motivated in which case this swap should help--thank you for creating it/hosting!). For this swap I would like to do the following things:

  1. create a loose sketch or drawing using ink (dip pen or with a brush) of flowers or plants
  2. create a smallish (4"x4" or larger) mixed media piece on a wooden panel
  3. do one Zentangle

Honestly I think it will be quite a challenge for me to accomplish those, but if I happen to come up with anything else I will send additional pictures/descriptions in my e-mail.

I am a card maker and scrapbooker, but I have always wanted to have a go at doodling and Zentangles...

With a busy life schedule accomplishing these three will definitely be a challenge for me. I will make sure to send multiple pictures of each when I finish them and when the time comes for me to send to my partner... :D

So this November I will be doing:

  1. One Zentangle design

  2. One Doodle design

  3. One Art Journal Page

My goal for this swap is to start drawing more, I want to draw at least 3 postcard-sized little sketches and colour them. Who knows, if some of them turn out well I'll have copies printed. So I'll have to come up with ideas for motives first, then sketch it and paint it with watercolour pencils or markers and finally doing the outlines.

For all those who are interested, I set up a blog:

Do More Art

I would make one post per project and will gladly add as many pictures as you are willing to share

my goal for this swap:

  • bind/make at least 8 mini books or journals (inspiration: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lawendula/4602094688/in/set-72157621938623035/) They don't have to be filled with art (yet) but the cover has to be finished and nicely decorated. :)

My goal is to complete 1 braided rug. First try at this and I think a swap deadline will help. I am also working on my first junk journal and will share my progress on it as well.
