beads & buttons matchbox fill

Sorry for beeing so daft....but "matchbox".....pls explain...thanks

it can be the matchboxes you get in resturants, or the kind you buy in the store, tiny boxes that hold "old fashioned matches" (wooden sticks with the usually red tip.)

And if your really lucky you can find the ones that people use to light their fireplace.Just google matchbox template to make your own large or small.

are we supposed to decorate the matchbox as well as fill it?

I don't have any matchboxes in the small size, so I made one with cardstoke from a template. However, it seemed to be very weak. So I used a shirt box from Christmas, I had plenty of them folded up after Christmas :). It's alot heavier and holds together better with E6000. Thought I would share this with everyone. :)

well u can choose to decorate the matchbox, or not:) i usually wrap thep up like a present at least.but its up to you:))))

I think the swap is more fun when the thing you're sending is decorated - to me, that's more than half the fun! Your 'swappie' will appreciate it, to be sure!

Susi, I sent a tiny matchbox to my mom the other day, I swear I had about 30 buttons, large ones and small in it, I even slipped some in when it was closed! :)

Hi there all, Just a quick question. Is it Ok to just send buttons and no beads or vise versa depending on who you get as a swap partner? Personally I have a stash of gorgeous vintage and new buttons but I dont have any beads and dont tend to use beads. If anyone gets me as a partner and reads this - I LOVE Buttons!!!

i suppose just one or the other is ok as long as you mail your partner first and check with them:)

i know , well here in sweden anyway you can buy matchboxes in the grocery store with matches/boxes in many sizes, i choose small ones to keep shipping costs down because its international..but anything above and beyond the call of duty is of course welcomed:)

Ya'll are killing me! All the talk about how many buttons you all have. :) I love buttons for some odd reason! I have all my buttons in little compartments, i.e. all blue, all orange, all red etc. I would love to see everybodys buttons! :)

Mel, swap coordinators now have to click "assign swap partners now" before swap-bot will assign partners. This allows the coordinator to ban people with low ratings before the start of the swap. This is brand new and it's the third swap this week I've been in where the swap date has passed without partners being assigned because no one at swap-bot told the swap coordinnator the new policy. I'll send Noel a message, in case she doesn't know.

I'd prefer more buttons than beads. If I have a say :)

Thanks for the info, Lily! I'd much rather wait for my partner's name and have the bad swappers removed. I just hosted one and it seems to be going fine for now, but I'm scared that some in the swap won't send (but you can be sure I'll hound them!)

I think this is a good idea on swap-bot's part.

Your package is all set to go out on Monday....I'd send it out today, but I know I'll have to fill out a customs form. So look for a smallish box in about 2 weeks or so (I hope not longer than that!)

Okay, so I downloaded a matchbox template and made one, but it looks awful. I think my cardstock was too thick. Regardless, it isn't shaped like a match box anyway! It is more like a ring box. Is it okay to substitute some other kind of small box? BTW- I can't get to the post office until Wednesday or Thursday. Since I am shipping international I'll have to go to the Post Office for the customs form. This sounds so cool! Do pictures get posted after the fact to see what people got?

Other swaps have said it is ok to use other boxes, but you'll still have to contact noel or your partner for that one.

As for pictures, yes, you can "upload" the picture or pictures at the top of the page and click Launch gallery slideshow to see the pictures people have posted.

I just put my matchbox in the mail. This amuses me quite a bit :)

I am going to share the beads with 'Sylvia's Creation', she is more into the beady thing, whereas I am more for buttons - so there will be found use for them all.

Notyettodo~ At the top of this page under "As a member of this swap you can" there is "Rate the swap partners who sent you stuff"... That only comes up 7 days past the send by date though. Most of the time you'll get the swap goodies before you can rate but I haven't received anything from her so I checked her profile out and saw that I probably won't be getting anything.
