JULY - AUG: Wearable Minizines

In the true spirit of "other cool stuff," let's try a real challenge in honor of Zine Month.

Make a mini-zine that can be worn as jewelry -- a necklace, earrings, brooch/ pin, or bracelet -- or (extra challenge) in some other way -- such as a purse or scarf. (I would go on, but I was going to say corset and that would indeed be extra extra credit -- we can keep it simple!)

Here are some sources of inspiration:

Straightforward comic book necklace -- easily adaptable, and readable!

from Crafty Chica, paper-embedded resin earrings -- coat in glue first to prevent discoloration of paper

refolded paper earrings, very chic, from craftstylish -- maybe use an extra zine copy for them?

Minibook earrings from Cut out and keep -- adapt to minizine theme?

While I am not suggesting you do this, the idea is cool and might be duplicated with a block or monoprint and fabric ink ...

Paper bracelet -- use extra zines, perhaps?

I am very excited about this bangle bracelet, which could be made in a zine style, then shipped flat for final assembly -- sadly the link is defunct, but there might be enough of an image to recreate it

some thoughts on paper finishes to protect them from wear and humidity -- I have had good luck with Mod-Podge glossy plus Dimensional Magic on top in the past as well -- not mentioned here.

Or -- appreciate paper accessories as recyclable and ephemeral -- there is something beautiful in that, too :)

So, yes, some of these are pretty mind- and skill-bending -- but I know that we can come up with something cool. Our ZMACS status gives us super-powers. And .. we can keep it simple and be creative, too.

So, one wearable object, featuring an actual zine, elements of a zine, pieces of zine or otherwise zine-oriented, to one partner. Be as wild or cautious as you prefer!
