Description:

I like using up bits of yarn on these little things. This is a swap for crocheters. So if you don't know how to crochet please do not sign up. If you are a beginner you might want to try your hand at these first before you commit to a swap.

Here's the swap. You have one partner to make (1) crochet bird for. I don't usually provide links to a tutorial because then everyone uses just that one idea. You can google images of crochet birds and you will find many patterns and tutorials to choose from. But just in case you are interested this is the one I found first. The image and tutorial I used was from: http://damnitjanetletscrochet.blogspot.com

They should be made from acrylic yarn, flat and not stuffed so that they can be sewn onto an item. Keep the sizes small enough to be like a patch about 2-3 inches.

SWAP REQUIREMENTS: 1) One partner, 1 bird, acrylic yarn, flat and not stuffed, senders choice for color. This is pretty basic and simple.

2.) Send on time and rate fairly. You can not rate down if you don't like the looks of the swap. Rate only if it met the requirements and not made poorly and falling apart. Sending late means it didn't meet all of the swap requirements and your partner can rate you a three. If you are new to swap-bot sending on time means to mail by the send date - not that it has to be received by the partner by that date.

Not rating at all is not only rude, but it isn't following Swap-bot rules.

SWAPPER REQUIREMENTS:

U.S. ONLY, but feel free to host the same swap and set it up for your region.

Newbies welcome with complete profile - it gives others an idea of what to send. Here's your chance to build ratings by doing a great job.

No experienced swappers with 1s or ratings below 4.98. I don't usually drop swappers until right before I assign partners - but I do check daily. I read every profile, and I do drop people who I think might present a problem to other swappers (not regional U.S., several threes, ratings slipping, comments that you send late, a lot of resends, no recent signing in, being listed as a problem swapper etc.)

Don't join when you know you don't meet the requirements.

Does the yarn have to be acrylic? Acrylic makes my hands itch.

pearlie 03/ 6/2014 #

Yes, the yarn needs to be acrylic. That way the appliqués are washable and won't shrink when washed. There are a lot of people who feel wool is itchy too, have allergies to it, or may be vegan.

How about cotton?

pearlie 03/ 6/2014 #

I set it up for acrylic because more people use acrylic than there are people who insist on natural fibers only. If you haven't used appliqués before you have to match fiber to fiber. So If you are strictly limiting yourself to natural fibers these appliqué swaps aren't for you.

By the way, user6937 this is a regional swap for USA. If you would like to you could host an identical one for international and open it to others fibers as well. I'm cool with that. :)

If you decide to do one allowing natural fibers, I'd be interested. I am also o PKU I with international.

Oops...meant to say I am ok with international! Clumsy fingers!
