Description:

HI All...

If you're a little pickier then most when it comes to the type of beads you use in crafting and jewelry, then this one is for you!

Do you have a stash of all kinds of wonderful beads, and perhaps would love to share? Do you LOVE walking through bead shops with a tray picking out special beads made of stone, glass, crystal, metal, ceramic or fibers?

Guidelines for the swap:

1) You will send 30 beads to your 2 partners, at least 2 of each kind, but NO MORE then 5 of one kind/style (unless your partner says otherwise)

2) Beads CANNOT be plastic, seed beads, crow beads, or other mass-produced items(plastic, big box bulk beads, etc). Think colors, cultural, unique beads, nice beads...

3) When you sign up - PLEASE come back and list in comments below your favorite colors/metals - 5 at least please

4) Hearts for extra beads! Must be shipped in bubble wrap (with a delivery confirmation if in USA)

5) Please read your partners profile to see what they like and do not like, to help you choose.

This is international because the package will be lightweight and small. Newbies with complete profile, no no-sends, as usual in my swaps.

HI all - thanks for joining...here is my list of kinds of beads I prefer...

1) swarovski crystals - any colors or shapes except squares

2) Love jewel tones (dark, vibrant colors)

3) Love varigated colors, especially peacock tail colors (teal, indigo, greens, dark purples)

4) Love real stone beads as long as I know what they are - No black onyx though

5) Love rainbows & opalescent coloration

This all being said, I dont expect anyone to follow this list verbatim...

This looks like fun! My list of preferences:

  1. Beads with Asian mofits/designs, etc. I would kill for some Koi shapped beads, as the bead store I go to around here doesn't have any....lol.

  2. Lampwork beads

  3. Shell, stone, horn, or bone beads in floral or animal shapes.

  4. Focal Beads

  5. Love colors like black, deep reds and purples, orange, bright blues and greens, and silver.

But this is just a list of suggestions! I love all kinds of beads, so feel free to surprise me with some of your favorites too!

I'm looking forward to this swap :) I pretty much like all sorts of beads and colours (EXCEPT bright neon ones). If I had to narrow it down, I'd choose:

  1. lampwork
  2. cloisonne
  3. cat's eye
  4. bali beads
  5. wooden
  6. Swarovski crystals

Great idea...

I prefer silver/pewter tones to gold. I love all semi-precious stones, or any real stones (I'd love it if you could label what they are) Swarovski crystal Ceramic beads Oriental motifs Carved beads Handmade beads

Thanks for letting me know about this! :)

I'm a gemstone gal myself. Please be careful about purchasing opalite, goldstone, cherry quartz, cat's eye, as these are all glass and man-made. There's a great forum discussion about it on Etsy if you're interested: http://www.etsy.com/forumsthread.php?threadid=5135256

I like glass, but the assorted lampwork, Czech etc.

Need lead-free Pewter like you wouldn't believe! Gold or Silver would be fabulous! :)

Charms are always good...nothing too hokey like "Moms are made of gold" on a gold heart. :P

Otherwise, just keep in mind I'm a vegetarian, so bone, horn, butterfly wings would not be that great for me. There's more info on my profile and you can see some of the beads I use if you check my Etsy site. :D

Many thanks!

I like glass and natural stone beads; favorite colors are green and purple; silver and silver-tone with details; lampwork; iridescent; animal shapes... I'm really not picky!

MissMayhem 06/14/2008 #

*I love all Swarovski crystals. Any shape.

*Big borosilicate lampwork beads. I use them as focal beads in my necklaces.

*Silver, silver plated, whatever!

*Glass (think cut czech, pressed glass, any really!!)

*semi-precious. Amethyst, Labradorite, turquoise, etc (not picky here either!). Any cut.

I'm not picky as long as they aren't plastic, seed beads etc.

betr14u 06/16/2008 #

alyssacrutchfield 06/18/2008 #

Generally speaking I like anything that's different and out of the ordinary but here's a general list of beads I have a particular fondness for and will probably be sending out as well!

  • Swarovski crystals -- I like the AB's but anything Swarovski I'll love

  • glass beads -- I like lampwork and foil-lined beads

  • lucite flowers, bows, rounds, anything girly and cute!

  • beads made from shells, especially flat mop discs in different colors

  • anything in pink, purple or lime green I would love too!

yamikolynn 06/20/2008 #

SINCE THIS IS A PARTICULAR BEAD SWAP INSTEAD OF THE SEED BEADS I LIKE CAT'S EYE TOO

Sprezzatura 06/21/2008 #

We are not supposed to send "mass-produced items"; yet technically most beads might fall into this category, like Swarovski. So I'm guessing mass-produced items means crappy, tacky beads...if not I hope someone will let me know. Thanks!

Greenwoodtree 06/21/2008 #

Mass-produced (as IM using it for this swap means:

BEADS bought in bulk from Hobby Lobby, Sprawlmart or other big box stores,

beads that are made of plastic

beads that you buy for $1.99 for 100

I dont know what else to say - this is supposed to be for those of us who are into quality, not quantity - those of us who are picky about the type of beads we use in our jewelry, and create each piece of jewelry with real intention and attention to quality and beauty.

peace, Holly

sagobrandt 06/21/2008 #

This is what I like

Swarovski crystals Foiled beads Shell, stone, horn, etc Charms Glassbeads

I dont want them to big, and as most of you I like beads that are unique. Im not picky about colors.

myrcury 06/21/2008 #

I enjoy: 1. semi-precious rounds, 2. anything copper, 3. peach, olive, and/or sand colored. 4. I would really, really, love someone if they could find a bead that i can only describe as a "speckled cream soda" round bead. 5. I am not really a fan of faceted beads 6. beads made with untraditional bead material, maybe even something handmade?

LotusTree 06/22/2008 #

I love natural (wood bone ect) beads

anything to do with buddha

earth tone stones(semi precious)

swar. crystals

lampwork beads

anything unusual

Anything that would make awesome earrings (I am an earring junkie)

myrcury 06/22/2008 #

oh yeah, and i really like old ugly garage sale finds like old wooden and metal beads. no bones.
