Description:

This is a simple swap - get your drawing supplies ready, set a timer and DRAW! Continuously for 30 minutes without breaks. You can choose to spend it all on one drawing or do a series of quick sketches, but I recommend hiding the eraser - there's not much time for self-critique here.

The point here is to get an extra motivation to grab the pen and do something. I hope that participants find that 30 minutes is too short of a time for such fun activity and end up doing it for the rest of the night. So the emphasis is on making, not receiving here, though it doubtlessly is fun seeing what other have come up with.

Any equipment you feel like using is fine, and you can draw on recycled paper or both side of the sheet if you wish.

Summer edition - theme of this time is FLORA

Meaning plants of any kind. Trees, flowers, edibles, house plants... Go outside and take your paper and pencil with you, and draw what you see in the park or in the forest! Or if it's raining all the time, maybe a tree that you see from your window - or a book on the subject - can help. (If you really want to draw Robert Plant, send him as an extra.)

Everybody is welcomed to join, from every skill level! Whether you're a professional or this is your first time drawing. Any way you'll likely be a bit better at it after doing the swap. : ) Take this into account when rating - you receive a drawing or multiple, sent on time, you rate 5. We all have different skill levels, styles and speeds of working and may choose to make miniature things or huge things or anything in between.

I will check the participants and reserve the right to ban any swapper who has recently received any 3's or 1's.

Newbies and unrated swappers with a well filled profile can join! It's not a profile-based swap but filling your profile communicates that you're committed to swapping and have taken some time to understand how things work here.

I will angel this swap if needed.

So, enjoy drawing and have fun!

I've been excited for all of these swaps, but so excited for this one! I love drawing flora :D

Anaryawe 07/ 2/2013 #

I thought you'd like this! Still have some of your great flowery postcards in my drawer.

walkthoreau 07/ 3/2013 #

Haven't done an illustration/drawing swap before....any size min. Or restrictions? Sending on postcard or envie ok?... or sending inside an envelope? Thanks!

Anaryawe 07/ 3/2013 #

There's no restrictions, except the time you have to spend. You can send your piece naked or in an envelope, all is OK. : ) Welcome in!

Doodles24 07/ 4/2013 #

Yea!! Really enjoyed the other two can't wait to get started on this one!

papercaper 07/ 7/2013 #

Fan-TAS-tic! It's winter where I live so I may be drawing camellias, camellias and more camellias, but I plan to draw from nature directly. Or from a book. Or from my head. Will I use techniques I learnt in my botanical watercolour class, or go my own way? Who knows, who knows? ;)

kindledwhimsy 07/ 7/2013 #

Very inspiring! (watching for now, but hope to join!)

moonlightlaura 07/ 9/2013 #

Would join if it was USA only

Anaryawe 07/ 9/2013 #

paperpaper: Uuuh, botanical watercolour sound so interesting! I'm jealous of you for having attended that.

Well Laura, I wouldn't - couldn't, even if I wanted to. ;) As the swaps that I as an European can join are becoming increasingly limited, I've decided to keep this open to everybody. According to USPS site it costs 1,10 dollars to send a postcard or light letter to anywhere in the world, and in my opinion, getting human-made piece of drawing for that is a good trade.

It is, however, a well-known fact that it takes endeavours of almost unreasonable scale to stick an international airmail label on an envelope.

moonlightlaura 07/ 9/2013 #

True, but with the way my post office is I have to put tracking on everything I send out. Putting tracking on international mail is way expensive, which is why I stick to US Only swaps...I have complained about how my post office is but they don't care...LOL

this looks like a fun swap though!!! :)

Doodles24 07/11/2013 #

Love these swaps they are so fun and easy! I can't wait for the next one, any idea when that might be and what the theme is gonna be? aaagh can't wait,, so excited to see whats next!!

papercaper 07/11/2013 #

@midnightlaura - are you saying your (govt-run, right? USPS) PO forces you to pay extra, forces you to select that you would like tracking recorded on every international item you send? Or even on one single item ever? I live in Australia so I don't know about the US but that sounds downright illegal! No one can force you to pay above the minimum rate for goods & services if you don't want them! Even if they pressure you, that's SO not OK here. If I was you, I'd be taking that one higher - without their knowledge so they can't intimidate you or skew things in their favour - and I'd be finding out what the go is. Sumpin' sounds waaay fishy... !

Also, @Anaryawe - just a short course. One day a week for 8 weeks; each class 2.5 hrs long. Amazing teacher. :) Btw, if I painted in fine outline, would that be considered drawing? What about drawing then colouring it in with pencils, textas (markers), watercolours?

Thanks :)
