Description:
I was wandering around Michael's today before work and saw some miniature gears and clocks pieces. I absolutely had to have them! I have been fascinated with all things steam punk for quite a while now, but I was never brave enough to venture closer. I love the Victorian era and must have been born in the wrong century. That being said... I have decided to stretch my wings and become a little edgy. Who wants to join me on this journey of self discovery? You will need to make (2) ATC's for each of your two partners so that is a total of (4) altogether. Each card must feature a man or woman from the Victorian era and have gears incorporated somehow in the card as decoration. No vulgarity or poor taste please. Please do not rate someone poorly simply because you do not like their chosen form of expression. I will be happy to "Angel" this swap, but as we are all adults, I am hoping this will not be necessary. You get to decide the colors and form of media. Enjoy everyone. Let's get swapping! PS: The gears that inspired this swap come from the Jim Holtz "idea-ology" collections.

I'm always looking for more international ones too hosted by other people (as I'm in the UK I usually make all my swaps international, including steampunk ones) - the more the better :)

I am thinking about this one, I have some actual vintage watch parts, small gears cogs, etc. that I love to use on ATC's. Watching for now, but so happy you are taking the Steampunk plunge, it can be addictive!

I loe steampunk, but I have to say, that there is a -lot- more to it than victorian+gears. It's about retro-futurism, imagining what someone in the Victorian era might imagine the year 2013 to look like. The "just put some gears on it" attitude is subject to scorn in the actual steampunk community, much as someone who got all their clothes at Hot Topic might be looked at by someone really involved in the goth or punk subculture.
I'm glad you've discovered some of the aesthetic elements of steampunk, but I hope that you will use it as a stepping stone for further investigation of what Steampunk has to offer instead of assumming that all there is to it is victoriana+gears.

Okay just want to check before I start creating, is it okay if the images are of younger boys and girls, or do want adults only?

Just so long as the image is completely acceptable... then the sky is the limit. Create away! :) I had originally made a woman and a man, and then didn't like how they turned out so I went back to the drawing board and made a time machine and a woman scientist!!!

Remember: the standard card size is 3.5 inches X 2.5 inches. This was an issue for some on the last swap I hosted. Happy Swapping everyone! :)

I sincerely apologize everyone. I remembered to log in during the day yesterday on my lunch break at work, but forgot last night. I was at my grandson's 1st birthday, then left to go pick up the 5 month old granddaughter and take care of my hubby and his broken ribs. I remembered to check back on this swap about 15 minutes ago. You can make a flicker page for your artwork. I am new to this form of art as well luvtoscrap and I am thinking of making a flicker page for my ATC's too.
