This is a use what you have swap. In making your paper quilt, you should use only junk mail/old magazines/catalogs/scraps of wrapping paper etc. All paper goods used in making the card should be recycled/repurposed. If you would like to add additional embellishments beyond the paper (stitching, beading etc.), you should not buy anything new for this swap. Everything should be culled from your stash. Brownie points for reusing old postcards as your foundation/underlayment for creating your quilt upon. Quilts may be any style you please. You can do a recognizable classic pattern, or something very crazy/abstract. Anything goes. Just don your creative cloche and get quilting!

hmmm. looks like fun.quilts. do we glue, weave, sew the paper to some backing thing?

i'm assuming there's no 'stuffing' or puffiness?

i sure do have enough junk mail. i'll have a go.

No puffiness, unless you desire it to be puffy. You can use any technique to achieve the quilted look...I simply cut & paste then usually embellish with stitching (sometimes by hand, sometimes by machine), but you can weave or sew if you choose. Yes, you want to use some sort of card backing (lightweight cardboard, thick watercolor paper, fairly heavy cardstock etc.) that will support your work and is sturdy enough to be mailed.
