Description:

You will send your partner a Zentangled Upper Case "C" on an ATC sized (2.5 inch x3.5 inch) card stock or similar paper. Adding color, using a colored paper or color washed background is optional. Use your creativeness and send something you would be happy to get. Please make sure you have a sturdy backing & add the name of the swap, your name & swap name and the date completed. One new rule that I'm adding (due to the questionable zentangles people were receiving) is that all your patterns must be a Certified Zentangle Patterns. If your are unsure what these are, go to TanglePatterns.com. Doodle art is very different than Zentangle art. Making these letters is a great way to learn new patterns.

We will go in order through the alphabet until the end - "Z" so you can work ahead if you wish or wait until you get your partner to see the color they like but this IS senders choice.

The usual Swap-bot rules apply. Newbies are welcome as long as the swap requirements are fulfilled. Flaking will NOT be tolerated and you must be in good standing. If you have any problems contact your swap partner and me. If you have questions about the swap, leave it in the comment section or pm me. If you flake on a letter, I will angel the letter for you BUT... you will be banned from further letters.

Happy Zentangling! Newbie friendly!

I will be having 'Letter Make-Up swaps' from time to time, too, if you miss a letter and want to get caught up!

You say to use your creativeness and send something you would be happy to get, and then you say all patterns must be Certified Zentangle Patterns & give website where these Certified patterns are found.

Perhaps retitle this swap series for swappers of Certified Zentangle Patterns only & draw your artists from a special interest group of Certified Zentangle Artists.

When you added the rule you may have lost a number of artists who wanted to express the art style of Zentangles in a personal artistic expression.

I'm sorry, this isn't inspiring & doesn't warmly welcome new artists.

We may have a "flaker" in our midst. Please let me know if you get "flaked" on.

I have to disagree with Whippet. The requirement encourages new artists to learn how to do it right. There are plenty of videos and instructional pages around to learn each tangle if you want to.

I have received many zentangle tiles in other hosted swaps that were doodles and made-up tangles that were not of quality, but thrown together. If you are going to call your work/swap Zentangle, then it should be true to its name. I am grateful to participate in a swap with this requirement!

I like the requirements, they help me learn new patterns for the ever growing number of patterns. And it seems as though this has become a quite popular Swap. Glad I was in on the "A", and plan on working on all 26 letters. =)

@latentsmile ...........I'm glad you got the message I was trying to put across. They are called Zentangle for a reason. If Zendoodling is what one prefers, there are swaps for that as well.

@BlueEyesDarkly ........I appreciate your comments and am so happy to have you in this series.

Have you all seen the number series I have up. Number "1" is up now and there's still time to sign up.

Happy Tangling everyone!

I have enjoyed learning Tangles as I go....I agree with the majority...I went on the site, practiced a couple of the patterns, and from there, have participated in several swaps. Am I a master Zentangle-ist (made that word up) Nope, I'm still learning. BUT...it's fun and I intend to keep participating. Good job, and I joined the Number 1, Yay! If you're learning to crochet, you don't grab some yarn, and then tie a bunch of crooked knots in it...It's the same with any other craft...you learn how to perform it by looking at the instructions and practice.

And the rules are to use actual Zentangle patterns, It don't say not to put your own flare into it, I guess as long as it is still able to be recognized out of the Zentangle Patterns.

Deeno1105 07/ 1/2012 #

@BlueEyesDarkly .........you can use any kind of flare you wish. This is and ATC afterall. You can add embellishments, glitter, use gel pens, etc. as long as it doesn't distract from the pattern and the letter. B L I N G it up all you like. =-)

With the ATC I made I've written down the types I've used just in case you want to try it also :)
